Is there a software that works in dos or some other OS that can read Apple ii formatted
5.25 floppy's on PC. I have a vintage celeron 366mhz and a vintage pentium 1 133mhz PC.
Both have mobo's that support 5.25 floppy drives. I am using the celeron now because I
am still waiting on some more parts for the pentium 1 build. I was having issues reading PC
formatted disks (they must have be from win 95) I formatted the disks in dos and I was
able to read and write to them so I know the drive is working fine. So, now that I know
everything is operational it is time to do what I been wanting to do for a while.

I am now looking for a program to read a 5.25 apple ii floppy and make a image that can be
read by pc or some apple emulator. Please help, I have been working at this for a while
but have gotten stuck. Thanks in advanced!! :)

5.25" floppies can be in IBM or Apple format (or a fuckton of others!). An Apple won't read IBM, and visa versa.

Ok, just ordered a apple iic, LOL.

Probably the best bet. I have a ton of Commodore formatted disks with games and stuff I found in the trash, but no Commodore! Tried to read them on an IBM 5150, no dice. Gotta go back to the original machine. Pisses me off. Good luck!

Just got the iic. I now need a copy of apple dos 3.1 or something like it. I tried accessing
my games with no luck without dos. :shadedshu Almost there though.

Looks like you're solving the problem the old-fashioned way, which is pretty neat. As far as reading the floppies on a modern PC, though, the only way I know is a PCI card called the Catweasel. It's a special floppy controller that lets you read pretty much any format floppy. It's $100, though. :(

Yeah ok so if you can get internet on the IIC (LOLOLOLOLOL good luck) then you can download dos 3.1 for mac, and write it to a spare floppy. Alternately, you can buy some old 3.1 disks off ebay or something.

So Im trying to speak with the guy I bought it from he might be able to send me the diskettes
I need. He is a apple ii freak so I know he has a lot of software I need. :)

Cool im going to look for that card. seems like I will need that for my PC floppy's too.

So I managed to read the disk I wanted to read and found some games I would have never remembered if it wasn't for the disk. Only one side of the disk was readable, its a shame because I know there were a lot more games and ones I remember and wanted to play.

Well here is a video I made of a game called dave.

Now I just want to copy these to a different format so I can store them on my hdd.

Most of the games I had are not on any rom sites or databases I have searched for
weeks and have not seen or heard of most of the games on the disk. These games
are rare.
