Im thinking of upgrading my antec 900.1 in a few weeks to one of the above cases, I was just wondering how these cases do in terms of aircooling ability in the meantime before I get together a water cooling kit. I will be using a HR-02 and 1600rpm fan with an I7-950.

also is it possible to get an 800D with no side window like the 700D?

and is the price difference warranted with the 800D ?

many thanks
stephen

You can buy a plain side panel from Corsair. I love my 700D, can't comment on the air cooling too much other than I have had no heat issues with it.

Do you really need the hot swap drives on the 800D? Are you going to use them? If not, just buy the 700D and call it good, it's a great case.

There's tons of great alternatives if your concerned with air cooling. The HAF-X is just one great example.

But if you are set on the Obsidian I say go for the 800D. Hot swap bays are killer and the side panel is slick. It's huge enough for a multi rad watercooling setup all internally so that's a major plus.

The only issue I have with it's air cooling is more intake from the bottom and lack of anything over the gpu area. Lots of room up top for fans but not so much underneath.

i went from a antec 1200 to a corsair 800d and i love would not go back its better for cable management for features and i used to have the maximum number of fans in my 1200, when i switched to my 800d i actually dropped in temp.

hmm im unsure of the design and like the more clean looks of the corsairs - more grown up if you get me

plus a water cooled system is definately on the cards

just a thought , how are the hot swap bays wired , is it possible to hook one bay up as sata 3 because i use a crucial real ssd as OS

Yeah, you should be able to just hook the sata cable straight to the mobo individually. (see pic)

If you wont use the hotswap bays, but you like the window check this out. :D

Nothing is preventing using one of the top fans for intake :D

might just buy a spare side and 800
