Carbon fiber wrap

So I got a less hilariously ugly case and I was thinking about getting some cheap (read: fake) carbon fiber stuff to wrap around it.

So does anybody have any recommendations?

I was also thinking about seeing if I couldn't get a brushed aluminum (oh, that was really easy to type

) snowflake to shove on the side, how should I go about doing that? Just glue (or something) the snowflake to the side and cut a hole in the carbon fiber?

coating, maybe thats the easy thing, but i guess just make sure the material that you want to use glued perfectly and easy to remove, coz some when it removed it will leave glue trace that hard to clean :toast:

Nah, if your looking at straight Carbon Fiber, no colors, I suggest that you use Sidewinders Computers. The owner, Gary, will work with you if there isn't a size that "almost" fits what your going at.. I really don't think there won't be. Due to the fact he has a BUNCH of sizes on his site.

Now, if your looking for color.. FrozenCPU has the stuff that you might want to look at. Their good on sizes.. I ordered threw them first, before Sidewinders was able to get their shipment in. But, I haven't tried the colors.. Thinking of Trying the Blue...

But, since it seems that you want Variety, then Frozen is your best bet.. But, Please, if you do grab just the normal stuff, get it from Sidewinders.. I got more "size wise" from him, then frozen and it was still cheaper with Sidewinders.

Don't worry, I'm going for black. I just always thought that (black) carbon fiber would go well with (silver) brushed aluminum but I've never gotten the chance to do anything that would put the two together.

Now how should I do this snowflake thing? Should I use it as a stencil to cut a hole in the vinyl, then glue it (the snowflake) to the side and then put the vinyl on the case?

The beautiful thing about the Vinyl... don't have to glue at all. Just have to make sure that when you apply it, to even the application. It'll stick.. and stay..

oh, ok.. I get you now.. I was just waking up.. :banghead:

Well, you can "raise" the carbon fiber.. What I would due, since it can come off easy the first 24/48h.. try it both ways.. With it under, and with it on top.. take a picture, and see what you like.. That would be the best way to know which would be better..

To me, fibering the flake would look nice, if it's "etched" to the factor.

Look into 3M Di-NOC in carbon fiber, the stuff works great, easy, high quality etc.
It lasts pretty well even on car exteriors you can get a few years easy.
