I'm looking to expand my C drive from 34.1GB to 50GB, meaning I'd have to shrink the D drive (198GB). I'm working with Magic Partition right now, but it won't let me resize the D drive.

Did you try using the utility built into W7?

Start -> rt click "computer" -> click "manage" -> under "storage" click "disk management"

One of the options is to resize.

I'm not familiar with magic partition but maybe you mean Partition Magic? That is an old program. I'm not surprised it doesn't work.

AFAIK this is not possible with the windows partition manager,

i have never been able to sucsessfuly extent a lower partition into a higher one. what you need is a program that will move all the Data on Partition D to the end of it.

then the program will have to shrink the partition from the LEFT side so you can extend C: partition to the Right.

afaik windows cannot shrink a partition from the left side, only the right side.

Sorry if that dosnt make sence......

I've done it several times although I can't say I've noticed which "side" I was working on. That was with W7 Ultimate, but it shouldn't make a difference if the feature is there.

Yeah, zombie thread. Looks like Allnsmith decided to resurrect it for some reason.
