Unknown, there is a "wall" are about 390MHz FSB. However, it is suggested that this isn't a limit of the modules but rather of some latencies between the AMB and controller.
400MHz is mentioned in various datasheets, so I the modules could do more perhaps. Quite some cooling is needed though, the AMBs get hotter than the CPU

Sooner or later someone will come with the next breakthrough on these issues, we shall see

The performance hit isn't that small. Considering the theoretic bandwidth is 25,6GB/s and benchmarks only get up to 6-7 (8 is already overclocked slightly) Latency is 89ns for me as well. I'd say the hit is quite large, though in real world applications this is not noticeable at all.

Sorry, I meant the small performance hit of oc'ed FB-DIMMs vs non oc'ed DDR2-800.

Well, the performance increase from extra cores is nice too

Anyway, I'll bug you once I know more about overclockability of FB-DIMMs. ie when timings can be changed.

Psssh, it's a load of crap. They're just showing off one of their servers with awfully expensive memory, and only one GPU slot. People will see this, and hopefully realize it's only good as a server before buying it. Trying to run say, Crysis while encoding 7 DVD's (eight cores) would bring the system to a crawl.

Quad core + server board = hack job. Doesn't quad fx support SLI/Quad SLI? This thing only looks like it has 1 video card in it... besides, 1 in a million people will ever be able to afford it... only to be disappointed that 8 cores really isn't doing them much good... except bragging rights.
