What is Korea ?
If anyone knows a reason -no matter how stupid it is- why the idiots in Activision decided to nix dedicated server please enlighten me.
Most likely because consoles use the same game matching system or whatever they call it. and its 'easier, cheaper & lot less time consuming' for them to make. thats why they can knock up a CoD game every year, as they forgo the need to test the games extensively on dedicated servers and such. The guy with the best internet connection hosts the game & they save some money by cutting out the middleman in the process. so to speak.
Though Im not sure if they get royalties if you rent a dedicated game server from a host. they probably do, I have no idea what the percentage is but it probably wasnt enough for them to make keeping dedicated server support a permanent feature of the game.
I remember the massive global outrage and backlash from the PC gaming community when I think it was Bobby Kotick announced in an intervew that MW2 wouldnt have dedicated servers.
There must have been no less then 5 or 6 online petitions that went up pretty much within minutes of the interview going live or being posted up on the internet demanding that they restore this feature in the game.
and of course.....they ignored everyone. The only people that werent affected by this and who thought MW2 was just totally cuminmypantsomgwtforgasmic were the massive console crowd who still regard and rate the game pretty highly.
So its perfectly clear who Activision/Treyarch or whoever want to please.
And im not going to waste my money taking part in their bullshit any longer. and now they want to charge a monthly subscription fee to have access to different maps, vehicles or weapons and whatever. If thats not another clear sign that Activision have lost their way, i dont know what is.
CoD aint Warcraft. Its not an MMORPG. paying for map & weapons pack DLC's is fine. but why should i pay a monthly fee to have access to extra features that were originally part of the game??? Is it not enough that i buy the game for £45 that they need to charge me £10 a month to have full content??
My message to Activision/Bobby Kotick is to "get f**ked"
