I had this paired kit in my vapoChill rig Socket 754 and one day the bugger wouldn't boot any more ,no beep codes no led codes just a fast flashing power case light..so I trouble shooted the dang rig and couldn't find the issue , well I put it off for a bit cuz I wanted to try some of the hardware I had on the 754 rig on the one in my sig .So any way I finally went back to trouble shooting the sleeping beauty 754 rig and traced it down to the memory the only thing I didn't previously think it was due to no beep or led codes , so I stuck a 512MB stick of this weird ram I wanted to try out HardCore KingMax DDR500and my sleeping Beauty started right up ,so I was like hot damn its this damn ram again!!, as I already RMA'd it once .So I pulled the stick of KingMax out and tried each of the GSkills out and no boot again ,So back in with the KingMax and up she goes running like a champ,Hmmm. So I tested the GSkill in my 939 rig and a no go on that set up so I was like yup for sure another rma on this GSkill kit , but before I do I figure why the hell not give em a try again so I went into the bios before pulling and putting and switched the ram voltage up to 3.4x and then in between saves I killed the power and did the pulling and putting and what ya know my 939 fired right up and running like a champ ; So off I go to start running benches on these babies I started out simple and tight 2-3-3-5 and every thing is nice then I went with loose and High FSB and no boot<<2.5-4-4-8.....so back in with a stick of my OCZ and switched every thing to 3-6-6-13 real looose and try again and nothing...so I go with the 3-6-6-13 and normal FSB and Nothing , so I try 2.5-4-4-8 again and nothing ...BUT this damn GSKILL runs just fine as long as you do not change the 2 in this setting 2-x-x-x ...2.5 and 3 will render the ram useless ...So right now its at 3.35 volts and 1T 2-3-3-5 FSB@210 and CPU@2.94and all is well so far ..SO THIS GSKILL IS AND HAS BEEN THE WEIRDEST RAM I EVER PLAYED WITH!!! Even when it was in the 754 rig it didn't like any of the 2.5 or 3 configs I gave her...  Some times ram is DAMN STRANGE.

what chips are on the Gskill ram, cause that sounds like the old Winbond BH-5, nothing but cas 2 will boot story!

Not sure whats under the spreader ,still under warranty ....i have it down to 3.15 volts stable now.Iwill do some refrencing tonight on the chips.

Thats still seems very high voltage for 210Mhz to me?

It is but at first it wouldnt boot up in any pc ,till I raised the voltage to 3.37 then she fired up and i tested a while then lowered the voltage to finially 3.15volts , but they do have heat spreaders and a 80MM fan spining at 7000+ RPM about 7 inches from the ram so even a higher voltage shouldnt be an issue and the temps on the ram stay under 50c .SO right now stable at 3.15 and 2-3-3-5 . better than paper weights:laugh: which is what they were before i put the fiddle to em again .

i think you hit it right on the head...
man, to think of all the damn headaches caused by the bh-5's...:banghead:

lol , I agree....but even on the 2-x-x-x setting it did not fire-up in any system , till the voltage increase ...now all seems to be fine . I am still testing though , Its wierd cuz the SPD is a 2.5 and 3.0 setting .

Didnt Ket at one time say BH5 was damn good chips?

I have read numerous reviews that this BH5 was able to clock like crazy . It did very well in my 754 rig upto the one day i had no more boot.

Have you tried the enermax on the system? You have an aweful lot of power draw there, even for a 550W with the crossfire....FX overclocked and raptorse etc, I am only thinking that maybe the RAM needs the extra volts just to post at the low speed cause the PSU is reaching Peak power and therefore the rail is fluctuating? My single 1800XT waas drawing 13A at idle according to ATI tool, god knows what those power monsters at load will be eating.

yes I swapped out the PSU to the enermax about a month or so ago ,srry i have'nt updated this ..now the OCZ is in the 754 rig that is currently frozen
