What are some good case fans?

Funniest thing i read all day! Have painted many fan's over the year's and have seen many a painted fan, no complaint's

Never had a problem with the GT's and don't think you can beat them for the price

What price are you guys seeing on the Gentle Typhoons? The cheapest I can find them for is somewhere around $20 and those are used.

Given that new ones retail for ~$25, I can't imagine there isn't some other fan to beat them for the price.

They seem to be between $12 - $18 for new one's but some (92mm) are getting hard to find as they have been discontinued, wish i had more extra cash to splurge on fan's but i'm broke ATM

You're just going to post that without any links?

Shipping didn't cross your mind? There are plenty of places to see it under $20 without shipping.

To ship to Helena, Montana is $8.30. Therefore, you've paid over $26 after it's all said and done.

I guess a lot of things didn't cross my mind when trying to help you out. I guess I'll go eat a bag of dicks, then, and let you bask in your own grandeur. And who the hell would order one fan at a time?

Yeah chill out onepost hahaha

LOL? I say "shipping didn't cross your mind" and you get sensitive?

"And who the hell would order one fan at a time?"

Well, since OP was interested in 2 or 3 fans, we'll use him as an example.

He's now spending $54 on fans, plus $12 shipping = $66 / 3 = $22. I'll concede in this instance you're correct, the cost is certainly lower than $26.

It is, however, still $22 per fan. Since I was originally addressing m1dg3t on the notion of GTs being the best bang for buck, I disagree that paying at least $5 more per fan is better than OPs other options.

If I were to order 10 fans, I'd come much closer to that original value, but therein lies the problem; I don't have $180 to spend on fans and, while I can't speak to OPs budget, he's likely not looking to spend that much either.

To conclude, don't try and paint yourself as the "good guy" in this. While I appreciate you taking the time to look, you and I both know it took less than 7 minutes. Do you honestly believe I would come on here and disagree about the price without having looked for AT LEAST 7 minutes myself? It comes across as being smart, hence my being passive-aggressive.

So next time, try and be a bit more conversational and you won't come across that way.

P.S. Don't eat a bag of dicks, that's just gross...unless of course your name is Jeffrey Dahmer or that one German guy that Rammstein did the song "Mein Teil" about.

Cooler master excalibers! Good reviews in these out there.

I fxxxing love Rammstein

I have been doing some research on this subject in the last day or so and have come to the conclusion that for me, the Cooler Master SickleFlow is the best compromise of aesthetics, air flow, noise and price.

  • Airflow of 69.69CFM at 2000RPM.
  • 4 Blue LED's & Translucent smoke color fan blades for a better LED effect
  • Silent operation
  • My favourite part: $10

So yeah, that's my $0.02.

sleeve bearings? no thanks:D

Noiseblockers are Brilliant!

I have sickleflows but even on resistors they click which I can't abide in a fan! I love coolermaster b

I have a noiseblocker PL1 without a resistor and a PL2 with on my H60 in Push/Pull respectively. They are brilliant and silent, but not cheap. I can't justify having them all over my case (though I would if I could afford it)

I have found that the cheapest "non-clicking" fan is any of the Bitfenix Spectre LED's but for me they are too loud without a resistor on. The non LED version click, which is annoying but Bitfenix are good with the LED version as you can easily turn the led off on the fan if you dont want them.

So the combination of Noiseblockers & Bitfenix are perfect for me however I am guilty of having a PWM Corsair Fan running above my memory which when running BF3 gets really loud but hey :) when I can aford it I'll put a Noiseblocker PWM on it.

hope this helps.

yeah im getting the noiseblocker. Not sure if i want the PL2 or the PLPS though.

I love my delta's but they had to be under volted to 5V to withstand the noise. They still move quite a bit of air at 5V though :)

120 mm Fan Roundup, Part 2: 1350 RPM or Higher Rotation Speed

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/120mm-fan-roundup-2.html

AP15 fans are good for radiators and heatsinks. I wouldnt get them for case fans

tl;dr article, Zalman ZM-F3 and CM SickleFlows.

Buttt i would get the newer on the marker, mainly NZXT FDB, BitFenix FDB. Dont get Noiseblockers, too expensive

Having used just about every model of GTs I'd have to say they're worth it (hell, get them sleeved too), but buy what speed you need. They can make funny noises on fan controllers. I'd go with AP13s for case fans, low noise. Not worth going fast for a case fan. You'd have to double your noise level to see a 1c temp benefit in most cases.

yeah I have San Ace H1011s and im at like 5 or 6v

They push hard but at full speed, its just too loud! I am perfect with them at 5V, I have Also thought about changing to 7V with Voltage regulators but still thinking about that.

Why not? Open air their efficiency only goes up

I wouldn't use any 38mm fan as a case fan, doesn't matter what make/model it is.

Part 1 convinced me to get the noiseblockers!! interesting post.

I can't help from my own experience feel that the sickleflows are still too "clicky" but then I've always been too picky.

great website though, very in-depth!

Since I won't be using my OWN money. Ill be using money my parents give me out of my birthday budget since I have an account on frozencpu to order the fans. I am positive im getting 2 noise blockers and a few y splitter fan cables to run the two noise blockers on one channel of my fan controller
