Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Toxic 6 GB Detailed

Are they making a 3GB version of this? Connections look like dual DVI, HDMI and 2 mini displayport.

I hope they have dual link DVI unlike MSI lightning which has only single link....

Sapphire is working on two HD 7970 Atomic versions, which come with 1335/1434 MHz (core/memory) out of the box. We'll have pics of those cards pretty soon. One of them is air-cooled, the other has a self-contained liquid-cooling loop.

Looks like i wait for the 1335 one then. My trigger finger was itching but you calmed me down.

I wish Sapphire would start making Nvidia cards, because this is a sexy beast!

For one, Photoshop is going to absolutely love it... :rockout:.

Um no it won't. 99% of most photoshop jobs can be rendered just fine on an IGP.

This. I was planning on getting the MSI until I learned of its lack of dual link DVI.
Hopefully the Atomic will be less than £550 and have dual link DVI.

I'm sorry TMM, but when I open 50 tiffs for processing I very much like them all plastered in the video memory. Not that I'd rush out and buy a 6GB video card for the memory alone, or that there's anything wrong with "just fine"...

What a sick back plate.

Well I hate to break it to you but Photoshop uses OpenGL for smooth scrolling and zoom. So unless you are zooming in on all 50 tifs at the same time 6gb is useless. You would see more performance in 64-bit Photoshop and 32gb of ram then 6gb of vram. Vram makes like no difference in Photoshop importing stuff from Maya or Mudbox or something. Even then Its debatable.

holly shit ...... I want!!!!!!

This is factory OC! +225MHZ :respect:
Not the s.itty Zotac EE GTX680 on 1,2Ghz which menas only 100-115Mhz plus because the cheater full reference cards runs 1085-1100Mhz, not on 1006Mhz.

"cheater" full reference?

Where are these CHEATER cards?

All reference cards run at 1006 and boost if need be 1058.

About this 6gb hd7970 monstrousity, is the 6gb really even going to be worth it for 50% of people? Haha.

One word comes to mind.

QUADFIRE!!!!

I wonder what pricing will be for this beast? And how much of a performance increase there will be over the standard 3Gb model's. I'm pretty sure the benefit's would only be on multi monitor & super high res but still :D

Any chance of W1zz getting 1 in for a review?

That would be 3P1C! 24Gb of VRAM :eek: I think i just grew an extra testicle! :rockout:

1900Mhz!1!!!/11?!!1 Is that one air!?

That's insane if so. Not to mention doing it with 6GBs. Crazy!

I do think it's kind of funny that the bandwidth almost matches the bus width.

Yep! Those clock's were achieved with the "stock" cooler :D At 1900Mhz it may even surpass it! lol

Actually 1058 is the average boost. The card can go up to 1110 for short amounts of time on the default bios. Tho I agree this is in no way cheating just smart design.

That's quite a hefty stock overclock, 200mhz roughyly. and then potential to go another 175mhz or more. that's a dam good build.

you know it wasnt all that long ago that the same argument was being made about 2gig vs 1gig....

no game uses 2gigs....useless they said.......

"if you build it they will come"

dream away my forward thinking developers,,,dream away!!!

this argument has been going on since people were saying they dont need video card n slots whether ISA,PCI,AGP, PEG.

I laughed at those who Had Gotten the G92 GTS N 9800 SERIES as they at time wish they had more ram where as The G80 GTX N GTS 640 users were comfortable with the cards.

That's one big beast that can handle anything at high res.

I wanna see all other AIBs release their 6 GB models

I dont wanna put any waterblock with that super nice cooler ! Looks like a monster !

A 3GB card with a lesser price tag makes soo much more sense to me.

Also, the MEMORY oCEs to 1900MHz, that's 7.6GHz QDR, WOw. What I don't understand is, why is Sapphire fitting the card with 7GT/s card but not a 7Ghz or near it memory speed

My ideal Atomic card would be:

- Sapphire HD7970 3GB Atomic(water cooled, self contained)
- 1335MHz Core
- 1700MHz memory(6.8GHz QDR)

This would, I'm pretty sure, take the world's fastest GPU TAG by quite a margin.
