Problem with vga bios update

Computer specs:

intel i5-3450
Radeon 7850 HD OC gfx
ASUS ph877-v le mobo
600W corsair power supply
8GB RAM (corsair)

I have had my new build for around 2 months and have been getting crashes from the very start whilst playing games. I have recently been in contact with the company that sold my the card and they said to do the latest VBIOS update for the card - so they sent me the link

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/p [...] =4155#bios

After completing the update I can no longer see anything on my screen. I can still here the windows log on sound but just can't see anything. I have integrated graphics in my mobo which I can use to still access my computer and was wondering how I can remove this update to get it back to its previous state. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I'm new to this whole things so explaining this in simple terms would be useful thanks

Hi

Did you remove the drivers before flashing the card? If not; this could be this issue -

Try this - at boot screen press F8 and select low resolution 640x480, once in windows go to control panel / programs and features / select AMD Catalyst Install Manager / Change / choose express uninstall / reboot

next

reinstall the latest drivers from AMD http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx or use the last stable driver that is recomended by Gigabyte

Hi

If you have taken the 7850 HD OC gfx out of the PC; that's fine.

Using your onbaord vga boot the PC; once in windows go to control panel / programs and features / select AMD Catalyst Install Manager / Change / choose express uninstall / reboot

and am I also right in saying that this will remove any vga bios updates?

Hi

No this will not remove the vga bios update

EDIT; to remove the vga bios update you will need to reflash the vga card with a backup of the original bios

yes it is still showing blackscreen after doing all of that

Hi

Leave the AMD Driver uninstalled for now; and leave the Radeon 7850 HD OC gfx installed [ you need to move the monitor cable onto the onboard vga

next:

enable your onboard vga [make sure it is set in the bios as the primary display]

next:

boot the PC

EDIT: How to make a bootable flash drive

Hi

go here http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/browse.php?c=21

grab- HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8 & Windows 98 System Files

click Primary Download unzip the files to a folder on your HDD; make sure your USB Memory stick is attached to your PC; open HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v2.1.8 ; select Creat a DOS startup disk/ select: using DOS system files located at: (these are the files you have just downloaded): browse to the files in win98boot; then start the process

grab the latest version of atiflash here - http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2166/ATIFlash_3.99.html

next

Guide to flashing - http://www.techpowerup.com/printarticle.php?id=34

EDIT - Bios's there are two in the database http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...r=Gigabyte&model=HD+7850&interface=&memSize=0

Put atiflash.exe and the bios on a USB key.

Set bios to boot from USB key.

At command prompt type in:

type c:\atiflash -i [this will show you the vga adapter information]

c:\atiflash -f -p 0 "biosname.rom" and hit enter.

Note: [if the adapter comes back as not found try changing the 0 to 1 in the command line]

atb (all the best)

ASUS ph877-v le mobo, i found the graphics card bit it says primary display = auto atm, there is an iGPU option, PCIE and PCI option I am guessing iGPU is the onboard graphics?
