A little earlier today, the U.S. branch of Scythe posted a message saying it decided to leave the U.S. market because its parent company halted operations. This spread confusion, with many believing that Scythe was ending operations everywhere. That is false. Not only is Scythe not ending operations everywhere, but it's not leaving the U.S. market, either. With the U.S. office closed for the night, other regional distributors such as Scythe EU swung into action, and allayed concerns.

According to Scythe's EU office in Germany, Scythe U.S. is undergoing "restructuring," with the company likely changing its U.S. distributor, and letting the Taiwan office run things in the interim. With all other branches of Scythe, including EU, Japan, China, and Taiwan, it's business as usual. It's likely that U.S. buyers won't even feel the transition, as it might complete before inventories begin to dry up. Scythe specializes in a range of enthusiast PC components, such as coolers, fans, PSUs, and accessories.

Some CEO is pissed...

But yeah, the latest post on the US site basically says the US division of Scythe went belly-up, but this doesn't affect Scythe as a whole as the US division was a separate company(think like a franchise type deal), and the other offices around the world will be picking up the slack for the time being until Scythe can find another distributor in the US.

This was a dick move, I saw this news on another tech site and rushed to order drives I didn't need yet. I'm pretty annoyed with this now defunct division.

Drives? Since when has Scythe sold drives? There is nothing actually that Scythe sells that I would call a necessity that I would have to buy if they were going out of business, all of their products can easily be replaced by other manufacturers products.

Oops, fans not drives.

While I agree with you than scythe isn't the only company that makes good fans; they do have a couple of models that are truly great especially at their price point.

I rushed to get the fans I did mostly to insure that all my fans would continue to have an unobtrusive uniform tone. The bane of my existence is one fan ramping up for a solo above the gentle chorus of the others.

Fans are always good to have so imo you didn't waste any money. :)

I want to see their PSU's here again.
