Hi guys,
I wanted to rekindle my love for cricket games by playing old game BRian lara cricket 07 on my windows 8 system.
The problem is that the game is not compatible with windows 8 system , so it is giving an error of " The Application was unable to load properly and 0x00000007b " .
I searched and this error is because on windows 8 and no compatibility settings work for it :(.
Please help guys i really want to play this game .

Use a Virtual machine?

Search for a No-CD patch for this game. Sometimes they fix compatibility issues with older games (including such crashes, especially on newer systems...). I remember fixing many games during Win98->WinXP transition and also later with WinXP->WinVista/7 transition.

But i usually record the gameplays , wont the virtual machine hamper that.
And is there no windows XP mode in windows 8 , which was there in windows 7.

Tried one now , will not post a link here of that.
Same error :(

either use a virtual machine or your sol..

You should be able to use XSplit to record a screen area and be able to capture anything in the virtual machine

I don't believe there is however windows 8 is set up already to run a virtual machine. Of course you will have to have a copy of xp with a key.

Good luck even running it in a vm, GPU virtualisation is virtually non existent, I wouldn't think it would run well at all especially as it's a 2007 game. Why not create a dual boot slipstreamed XP install alongside Windows 8 for legacy games?

Can you explain me how to do that.
ANd i dont want to go dual boot just for one game ,too much hassle

you don't have to dual boot, virtual machine means running xp inside windows 8. Do you know the "yo dawg meme"? its like that

Google "VMWare"

I have VMware , But windows 7 had a xp mode in which we could boot directly into windows xp without any third party software and the VIrtual OS shared all the resources of System.
Is there anything like this on windows 8?

Right click on exe -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> Checkbox to run in compatibilty mode and select OS

Does that not work in Windows 8? Never had to use it.

This. It's not really an old game, if it doesn't work with 8 I think the game itself is to blame.

Did that , doesnt work, no error at all , nothing, just doesnt load.
FIrst thing i tried

You can use the W7 XP Mode through VirtualBox in W8. The W7 XP mode installer has a VHD file, extract it with 7zip and run with VB.

Haven't tried using games though.

I wrote that in above post ,that didnt work :(.
Not enough video memory was given

How about installing XP on a seperate drive/partition and dual boot? Sounds like that is the way to go. Any old HDD will do for that purpose.

+1, you would only need to press F8 at boot.

I dont have any extra HDD
EDIT: Looking at other cricket games available :(
