Monitor issues- Color problem :(

I recently purchased a LG E2042TC monitor and from yesterday, it is showing some problems. First of all, it has got a dead red sub pixel. Secondly, and the most important, the image at the left side appears paler than the rest of the screen. Here's the picture.

What do you think? Is it real or I am getting finicky?

what can you do? warranty doesnt cover 1 dead pixel or light bleed, you will get used to it.

The light bleed doesn't look that bad... Though a black screen works better for spotting that.

No no light bleed is horrible also.
Actually its not dead pixel or light bleed I am complaining about. It is that the left side appears slightly less bright than the right.

Yeah everyone is telling that. But I didn't know. And I had some trust in LG because my old monitor never had a single problem. The blotch you saw was fixed by me after 3 hrs and it was just a piece of dirt between the reflector and the refractor. But did I know that the very next day that nasty thief will just put the 7100 Rs thing absolutely to waste!

Anyways, today a LG service personnel came. I showed him the problem. He inspected it and agreed. But said that the problem is very little at the moment and so the company won't authorize a replacement panel in this moment. He told me not to worry as if the problem gets worse or if the dead pixel count becomes >=4, then the panel will be replaced without any question.

Unfortunately this is a common problem. Some years ago I had a similar one on a 19" MAG monitor... 4 irritating dead pixels next to each other slap bang in the middle, yet my panel wasn't changed because of a '5 pixel warranty'. It's a risk we take, that's why one has to compare price with service and warranty. There are monitors with a better warranty, but they come at a higher price.

If I were you I'd insist on the color difference and back light bleed. They're pretty bad in my opinion.

Ok. I think I am having serious bad luck. My old monitor was perfect for me. But a stupid thief came and pulled the disconnected internet wire so hard that the monitor fell down and you can guess what happened. After that I got this and now all these issues.

this is the problem with cheap monitors. nothing else to do than to live with it.
is this a LED backlit? looks like ccfl backlit. backlight bleed isnt uniform either. looks like there is one strip at the sides, and only one at the bottom. none at the top.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. If you can't return the thing for a different one, you can do things like playing with the brightness/contrast buttons on it and adjust it untill it's a bit better.

LCD panels are very sensitive to pressure, you could try taking it apart and check for pressure points. The plastic frame might be doing it, so you could try sanding down the back edge of it.

I've heard of people tapping the edge of the metal frame (part that keeps the actual panel together) to try to even the pressure out.

Not at all man. A friend of mine has the exact same monitor. He has almost no backlight bleed and much much better viewing angle than mine. My old monitor was CCFL. It had also insignificant backlight bleed. You saw it too.

Yeah I tried adjusting the settings. And made it the best possible according to my eyes. This pic was after that.

And I think LG has tricked me. As per the website specs, it is clearly stated that viewing angle is H170 and V160. Meaning H left 85 Right 85 degrees.. I opened the service menu of the monitor and saw the panel type as CMI 200 L23. I immediately search for it on Google. And found out that the horizontal viewing angle is actually 90 degrees Left 45 Right 45 which it really is.

Yesterday the service personnel called me again. He said that he can't write anything in the work order sheet as of why the panel needs to be replaced. This is utterly ridiculous. So now the new question is how can I directly request the company to change my panel? I have mailed to serviceindia@lge.com but only the call center employees are responding.

most TN panels have 160deg angle in both axes and ips ones have 178deg

try roughing it out with the shop where you got it from.

its true they make good monitors, but you were just unlucky. looks like your luck with parts has run out

thats weird. maybe they have different versions for third world countries?

you should try what erocker said. they are very pressure sensitive and it might be possible that someone dropped your monitor during shipping.

I bought it from Lalani E TechCity. I checked the seal and everything. After taking it home and switching it on, I found all these.

Also your point maybe correct but how come my friend with the exact same monitor gets far superior display than mine?
I suggested him that monitor too and I was damn impressed the reason I bought me a LG instead of the Dell.

Also if I take apart the monitor, I will deliberately try to destroy it and I think I know how to do it once I take it apart.

UPDATE UPDATE: I just called my friend with the same monitor. His panel is LGD200TLH1 which is from LG original and bound to be better than my CMI= CheiMei Innolux crap.

FlipKart put in the wrong specs. That's what happens when you hire people to do data entry

Anyway, the real specs from LG's website:

My first LCD Monitor was a LG... it was horrible and it broke within 2.5 months. From then on, it's always been Samsung for me . And my current LED, it had a dead pixel (bright dot, only one), they replaced it with a brand new one without saying anything.

Actually I should praise Flipkart. Because I bet my monitor's viewing angle is no more than what is stated in Flipkart. Maybe they know what LG is doing on the inside. LG is lying in their website. My friend has good luck.
Anyways, I have made up my mind. Very soon I am gonna take it apart and remove some SMD components from the LCD inverter or cut a flex cable which goes from the inverter to the panel whichever easier.

About CMI: CMI known as CheiMei Innolux is a Taiwanese LCD manufacturer and is the world's second largest LCD panel maker. So it might not be as bad as we think. It is just that the panel model used in my monitor is bad.
I researched and found out that BenQ uses their panels too. I have seen some BenQ monitors and they are excellent for the price.
My panel is CMI 200 L23
According to specs:
Contrast Ratio 700:1(LG lied again. They stated it 1000:1)
Viewing angle H90/V65(They lied as well as there.)
So I am gonna claim a new and better panel by hook or by crook.
