water cpu blocks home made or store bought?

Motherboard asus crosshair V well cooled
Cooling dd mc tdx block with 10000btu a/c rad with cold air piped from outside
Memory ocz low volt reapers 1600mh @ 1667mh 8.8.8.20 1.6v
Video Card(s) bfg gtx 280 1gig core has hit over 733mh
Storage 2 intel 40gb ssd.s in raid 0/ 1tb seagate 7200.12
Display(s) 2x 19inch non wide lcd.s
Case none sits on back plate from a case lol
Audio Device(s) sb xfi extream music [pci]
Power Supply #1corsair tx850 for mobo/vid #2 enermax true 460wat for hd.s/cd/fans
Software xp pro/7 64bit [biggest comp out of 3 i run]
Benchmark Scores the marks ar well ownage lol
i have made 3 water blocks as u can see in the pic ther all copper sept the solder of corse

now thay all work good id think

but im getting reading i dont like for good exampel rite now my water temp is 8.2c an my block is at 19c core temp about 25c pushin my a64 4000+ at 3.2gh rite now 3216mh

any way im wondering if u guys think a store bought block would make better use of my water temp? or is this offset normal?

cpu to block heat change is fine id say

im thinkin my blocks cant pull enuf cold outa the water maby

or would slowing the water flow help its kinda fast rite now

There are 6 problem that must cause this:
1- Not big enough raditator.
2- The pump is not big enough
3- The higest point measure down to the lower point of your watercooler(including tubing) are too much for your pump to handle.(read your pump menu)
4- Your copper base is not tight enough seacur onto the cpu
5- your water tank is too small.
6- The copper and rubber tube might be block(unlikely)

I would say that you need more copper around the outsides of those water tubes man. I mean only the bottom half of them is absorbing any heat from the cpu itself and the top half is doing nothing. You really need the water to be passing through the block.

Another idea would be the actual surface area of the water.. In your design the water itself only passing over a small amount of whole surface area. Try flattening the tubing on top of the block a little.

The last thing which may be hindering performance is the fact that under your solder you might have some air pockets or parts of the water tube that are not quite touching the block. which would also lower the area of contact on the copper block.

Nice job on the home made gear though. It don't look pretty but 3.2 gig on an AMD chip speaks for itself... :)

i agrea my block actuly has varly little copper to copper contact so seams like thay ar my down fall [an i agrea the water needs to goes the block] to much like work id rathe buy a nice one

pump power is not a prob its a foutain pump it can easly pump up 10 feet an still shoot bout 3 feet threw my tubes an ill show u my rad an bucket

im thinkin ther big enuf an i

i know the cpu is tuchen good usen artic silvers 5 an u can see how nice my blockes ar from the bottem one in the first pic smooth

lol my water system makes my comp look small

the air condishoner thats hlaf in the water is for summer an will be tubed back up vary soon

rite now the big white tube is sucking in cold air from out side by this big black turbine style fan this thing can move some air

the wight tube going from the window to the rad is allso the tube an big black fan that suck out the hot air from the a/c unit so im not roastin my self in here

the last pic the the cap/model number of my big black non exsitant fan lol its hard to find it evin on the company web site rated at 82 metric feet? [mf] an as u can see i use a dimmer to controle it crazy power

only thing left rilly is to try a new block but what one

i know my home made ones arnt the best but not bad

so yeah what would u guys recomend for my setup an a s939 socket shit any block ill find a way to put it on

i was lookin at this block [Zalman ZM-WB3 Gold CPU Waterblock] not bad

im in ontario near t.o

what do u mean by 1/2 fitting.s [like smaller hoses? or bigger] the pump i got could do ither more flow or more presher my big rad slows thing down a bit an takes out alot of presher

i get to unhook the rad soon as ill be usen the a/c unit

1/2 Inch is one size up from 3/8 in fittings. They are quite large fittings for a water block. You want to try achieve a high flow rather than a high pressure system. High flow means there is more water flowing thru the block which is then taking the heat away. High pressure usually means you are restricting the flow in some way and it is trying to sqeeze more water thru the system than possible.

The Zalman block is not bad, I have a zalman north bridge block in my system and it works a treat but it is not quite as good as the high end ones I suggested above.
