after 10 months of early access and a failed kick starter project the game is finally out!

i love it, it is hard to put into words why as it is a very basic game, i mean 2 teams of people with guns fighting it out is a very back to basics way of doing it in 2014 but boy when you do something so well!!!!

best £10 you will spend on a 1st person shooter this year :)

edit

The fact it is so hurrendously basic is what makes it so amazing. Unlike any other team DM game I've played. Far more satisfaction per kill than BF or any other shooter. Basically CounterStrike with AimDownSight.

i am not the best with words anyway but this is something that is so hard to put into words.

once you play it you know what i mean :D

They allready had a steam mod with the same name and most server are dead. Dont get why they made it into a full game.

I will try it some more. I was not terribly impressed with it, especially as they're not going the full route in terms of realism but instead treading a middle ground. Less innovative than both RO1 and RO2 in terms of weapon and movement mechanics, but at least they do not have ranks and junk like that, which RO2 did. I think it is a decent game overall, just not superb. But I will give it a try.

I think Festung Europa, a Cryengine 3 game by the developers of Darkest Hour (RO1 mod) will be the true sequel to RO and Insurgency. No unlocks, and they do not seem to pander to the mainstream crowd.

Kind of like how Counter Strike and Day Z came out with much changed retail versions. They wanted to make a more polished version and make money. Crazy concept.

But dayz and cs had alot of full servers. The mod was dead last time i played insurgency. I dont get why they would waste time on this.

As I have been praising INS lately, I feel I have to answer....

"hurrendously basic": just because of that, because it is you and your rifle, not stupid gadgets like drones, etc. Just your situational awareness and your gun.
Far more satisfaction per kill: yes, because of the PACE. Not as slow as Arma or RO (quite orthopedic IMHO, you move AFTER you press keys) and much slower than arcade kiddy games like CS.
Anyway, something horribly basic is the other game,... eh,... Takedown Red Sabre, man is it rough.
"Dont get why they made it into a full game": it is not possible to be compared with the old mod, it is just so well made, so beatiful graphically... well worth the money
"Darkest Hour": although I LOVE DH, and want it back, it is just easy big big maps with tanks, like Sniper Elite, but with Tanks. I LOVE it, but from a technical point of view, it is just a simple mod.

That said. Here my negatives:
- Killing Arabs is a bit outdated, so are the maps.
- I hope they come with something refreshing storywise. Not asking for Tour de Eifel map, but maybe... Egypt with its monuments, or Isreal...
- More maps, most servers loop into 2-3 maps...

Project Reality on Cryengine 3 is going to be free. Will probably be a while until that is done, but I am sure they will put the concept of asymmetric gameplay into play. That was a big knock against the original mod; both teams played the same.

the mod was on a 7 year old engine, it had died its death before the team picked it up and started again 2 years ago. neither of those facts negates the fact that there is no other game filling that niche in the market right now and insurgency the game is that.

if you want the best 1st person infantry only shooter out on pc right now it is this game.

when i was playing before there were 2600 plus people playing it, it has people playing it.

dude all 3 of your con points are the same thing xD

the theatre system is something they are working on, when it launches in the steam workshop there will be all the maps under the sun :)
