OK I finally tried it and it's pretty good for alpha. My GTX680 handles it well. I don't care for flying with the 360 controller.. I can't hit shit. But the graphics really look good. I just need to practice flying a bit. I'll like it a lot better with my flight stick. My Aurora LN is slower then snail shit in molasses on a cold day.. I'll be upgrading to a 300i tomorrow or a hornet. :toast:

don't forget to use after burner

don't forget to use after burner

Afterburner is the only way I can tell I'm moving, but it doesn't last long enough to really matter. But I'm half asleep so there is a big possibility that I'm not doing something right. I wish they would have made the triggers throttle and lasers the top buttons. It's kind of backwards..

EDIT: I'm off to bed.. My eyes are burning.. lol

@erocker - Have you streamed any yet? This download is taking forever! I want to play... It downloads good for about 5 minutes and then stalls for 10.. :banghead::banghead:

My streaming hasn't been working well lately. I'm going to make a video right now of Vanduul Swarm with the 300i. I don't seem to last very long in the Hornet for some reason and the Aurora is tough as nails.. just not a lot of firepower.

I have a short video coming up with the 300i. I mounted an Onisky IV on the nose instead of the 007 repeater and it wrecks Vanduul. Video was cut short due to flying backwards into an asteroid.

I've noticed that selecting Yes or No for Invert Controller literally does nothing at all, and I have to play with an inverted controller whether I like it or not. 360 controller makes it impossible to actually aim at anything at all...
Also Mouse controls seems a little sluggish and generally quite crappy. I was expecting mouse control like freelancer, and it just isnt like that at all. It's weird and sluggish and occasionally jumps in one direction faster than normal. I also have no idea what this whole landing thing is, I've never seen anywhere to land, and I have no idea how to  also, the cockpit view (which is the ONLY view you can get the target reticule in) is HORRIFYINGLY BAD for the Aurora. Literally your entire view is constricted to a tiny rectangular window in the middle. Not to mention the ship overall handles like a stack of bricks.

Maybe my ship is just really really shitty, but I'm not really enjoying myself that much. Which kinda sucks, I was hoping that your ship wouldn't matter that much when it came to navigational gameplay.

I believe you might need to restart the game after switching the controller ... It could not work though.

When using m+kb, it "F" to go into "Relative Mode"... Much better. In that mode you just point the ship where it needs to go/shoot and shoot. The combined ship movement/aiming in regular mode does suck.

Anyways, here's that video. I kill 3 Vanduul rather quickly, started thinking that the gun setup was easy mode.. then I screwed up and nailed an asteroid.

Ah thanks for that, that will probably solve my main gripes. Also, what the hell. You literally 3 shot those enemies. It takes my Aurora almost their entire energy capacity in order to kill a single ship!

Also what's the deal with the landing stuff people are talking about?

I'll upload a vidya on my stream of the cockpit view on the Aurora for those that were lucky enough to pay for better ships with sane cockpit layouts.

Yeah, 300i with 3 Omnisky VI's is quite OP atm. I am going to try to beat it now. I'm streaming if you want to watch: http://www.twitch.tv/erocker414

I managed to land once on a platform.. the landing gear is broke atm.

How exactly do you outfit your ship with different weapons from the store anyway? I was tempted to buy a couple as I have a fair amount of UEC.

I just took the weapon off of my 325A and put it on the 300i dfm trainer on the holo-table.

If these weapons stay as they are when the multiplayer finally comes out (When is that?), then I'm gonna get my ass handed to me by every player with something better than an Aurora. I'm not sure how they're going to balance matches where a player needs to shoot 100 times vs one that only needs to shoot 3.

I don't know, it all seems up in the air at the moment, nothing is particularly detailed or explained. Just feels like the game is fast becoming a disappointment. I'll wait for multiplayer to release and decide if the game is terrifyingly pay dollars to win.

everything is well expaind you just have missed a lot of reading and videos

With the modules it might be a bit pay to win... whatever you might win. Once the game is released though, you'll be able to buy and customize what you want with fake money.

I refuse to visit the RSI posts on the grounds that the entire comments and forum section is filled with incoherent uneducated children. I prefer to read flat patch notes and what not, and last night the pages wouldn't load properly, and overall not a lot was explained clearly enough. Just feels like they could do a much better job. I was disappointed about there being no multiplayer yet, I'm sure that was explained, but I was fully expecting to be able to shoot other players when this module was dropped. In its present state, I don't see myself playing the game until it's released. I don't particularly expect to have to pay $100 just so I can enjoy a game when I've already invested $35 to play it.
I know alpha is alpha, but that doesn't change that they are basically treating alpha as a money stream for people who want to be able to do better than the rest. It feels like I've been a little cheated because I don't have as much money to spend as other people, therefore my alpha experience (which I am entitled to, just as much as a guy who payed $1000), will suffer.

i have quitted looking at their forums as soon as i saw that they wont fix their mistaken ship stats and space flight priciples although me and one other guy made grounded explanations about their mistake. i dont fill i am missing important information about the game that can affect my game experiance. i get rsi newsletter so i can look at whatever i am interested in.
keep an eye on comlink post from rsi (start from the very beginning not neseccary to read user coments). multiplayer has to come later with patch to dog fighing modoul (was expained in comlinks).
have a look also at 10 for chairman. a lot of questions has been answered there.
when you are done you will see that most of your expectations has nothing in common with game mechanics/time frame.
i dont see why you feel need to be top of the top in first playable (or most likely not fully playable) alpha when you have the very basic starter ship&gear 0 possibility to grined gear/better ship. those that have spent money for ships beyond starter will do it better then you ofc (if their ships are playable). why your expectations are so high?
use your alpha access and learn to run the ship (play a bit with newton mechanics). make some dog fighting with npcs and help rsi to get their metrics so they can adjust weapons/ship balanace and enjoy the game as far as it is possible. if you had read info about game you would have so high expectations.

There is multiplayer included in the current version, however it is being unlocked for groups of people at a time depending on when(not how much) they backed. The earliest backers have access now, and more and more people will gain access to the multiplayer portion as the servers ramp up across the next few weeks. Right now, they're gauging how many people are playing the single-player stuff so they know what kind of server load to expect.
I'm not sure about the weapons issue. It seems to me that to be fair, they might lock the weapons for multiplayer to the defaults.
All that being said, right now is not about playing, it's about testing. That's the point of alpha. We're looking for bugs, crashes, glitches, and any other kind of technical issue.
It's also about finally getting out in space and learning the Newtonian physics-based flight. If all you do is get acquainted with your ship in Free Flight, you're still helping CIG.

Nice shooting! my downloads should be done in 1 hour! it went much faster than expected. what software do you use to capture your ? I've been looking into getting some. All I hope is to be able to fly my Aurora in free flight mode to learn its controls, then when we get closer to release I plan on doing a full computer build.

That looks NICEEEEEEEE

lol are some of you guys raging at something that is not even close to being in its final form?
lol

IDK how you can judge something as being OP if you don't even have MP yet....
Besides the whole point of AC/DFM is to balance things out.

fwiw playing this with mouse and kb is a big no no imo(hard to control/too complicated/not fun)

this is the HOTAS i'm using:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16879337003

nice, cheap, and effective. lol

Just streamed a short video for you guys. Got the game maxed out at 1440p, ofcourse I'm only streaming at 720p.
For some reason the Aurora is crazy sluggish when moving left or right, and does this weird back and forth while moving in those directions. Occasionally it goes batshit crazy when flying in certain directions at speed too. Tried the different flight control modes for the mouse, and I think I prefer the default one to the locked reticule, although both are a little bad on the Aurora's movement. Also you can see just how ridiculous the Aurora's cockpit window is. Does nothing but get in the way of everything!

Yeah, I found flying with the mouse abysmal. Good thing I have a controller and HOTAS(highly recommend).

Good thing I have a controller

I've used the controller, and I think I would prefer it if the whole "invert controller" option actually did what it was supposed to. Sadly for me it doesn't seem to, so I literally cannot get used to flying my ship that way.

I see what people are saying about speed, everything is so big it feels like your ship isn't really going anywhere.

just noticed one of your problems, you have gsafe enabled. it makes your turning much slower.
I use that disabled for dogfighting lol. Just be careful you don't black out ;)

Just be careful you don't black out

The geforce thing seems like an enormous gimmick, I'm all for realism, but that for me is more of an annoyance than a good implementation of a mechanic. No space sim ever had something like that, and I don't think the genre needs it.

There are more interesting options, like heat, where you can close off the vents, so you can "go dark" on heat sensors in other games. It does however damage your ship. That is a good mechanic.
