Just curious how many computers we have in our homes.

When I say computer, I mean something capable of running a full desktop OS, either Windows or Linux or OSX and I guess Windows RT(but not Windows Mobile). And I'm talking computers that are actually connected and are used somewhat regularly, say at least once a month. And, what do you use the computers for?

My Desktop
My Laptop
Wife's Desktop
Wife's Laptop
Bedroom HTPC
Living Room HTPC
Media/File Server
Backup Server

That makes 8 for me.

4 and I live by myself

Gaming
2 X HTPC
Laptop

3 for me:

My desktop - 24/7 cruncher except when gaming

Wife's desktop - 24/7 cruncher, wife does her nonsense on it, and it shares the data for all pcs. Also a backup gamer in case I just want something light

3rd PC - built as a cruncher and a lanbox if need be. Crunches most of the time.

Only one desktop PC. 4 laptops, one for each person and an older one as spare. And i can add my newly purchased Surface tablet to the bunch. Just don't ask how many mobile phones we have laying around. We always buy and never resell, some of them could be museum pieces by now.

Desktop, laptop and HTPC.

5 for me,

Server PC, as file/media server, download server, BOINC cruncher.
Gaming PC, for all Steam, Origin, Uplay, and daily work PC.
Kid PC, also for main games/work backup
and 2 additional PC for cruncher, folding and coin mining.

and also 1 laptop that i never touch again after installing OS.

2 desktop
1 server
1 laptop
2surface (surface replaces htpc anywhere, but it was so much fun to build small pcs)

4 and I live by myself

Gaming
2 X HTPC
Laptop

Out of curiosity, why in the world 2 HTPC's? One in the bathroom?

Two here, and that is still one too many (system specs and the one in sig). When I get rich I'm getting one of them nice tablets or a convertible laptop. Or an AIO.

One netbook (my own), Acer: CPU Atom N270 Windows XP
4 laptops (2 laptops are mine), Acer: CPU T5850 Windows Vista, Acer: CPU i3 3110M Windows 8.1, Asus: CPU i7 740QM Windows 7,Asus: CPU i7 4700HQ Windows 8.1
1 PC, LianLi Asus CPU E7200 Windows Vista
3 persons at home

In the past I was a "One PC can do everything, no need for more" person, but after finding some good discounts over the years and being bored on selling most of them, I changed my attitude. So now I have three.

One AM1 HTPC for movies and internet streaming.
One AM3 for light gaming, compute heavy stuff and testing,
and one dead silent AM3+ for Internet browsing and non heavy work like word processing.

Just 2 desktops. Laptop is no more and netbook stays off.

Main home/office - Win 8.1 - mainly everything
Upstairs desktop - Win 7 - some games, email, work, etc.
wife's laptop - Win 8.1 - whatever the wife does.
my tablet/laptop Win 8.1 - anything - it is basically a clone of the main computer.
wife's tablet - Android - email, text, word processing, spreadsheets, media control, games, video, web surfing, ordering PIZZA/WINGS and etc.
My tablet - Android - same as above

I really use the tablets more than the PCs.

i have the 2 pc's in my specs and the laptop in my sig (just needs a new HDD and ODD)

I have somewhere between too many and not enough :p

Most of my desktops/crunchers are listed in specs or sig (some aren't at home) plus a few laptops

Laptop, Desktop and a in progress Gaming Rig

Gaming x2 (one for me and her), her personal lap, her bus lap, my Chromebook, laptop for HTPC (going to replace soon), Gaming for daughter, Server... yeah, I miscounted. That's 8, I voted 7.

Just one, my main desktop. I have a legacy windows 98se pc i use regularly and a ton of retro computers including an ibm 5160.

More than 10.
3 in 24/7 use
1 backup/server
More complete benching setups than I can count. Yes, pretty much all of them see use at least once a month.

I didn't count my work laptop.

Im presuming in a newer home to boot or a home that was contracted to have ethernet lines ran to each room...

Actually, an older home. I ran everything I needed. Being in construction has it's perks.
