AMD Radeon R9 295X2 to Get Promotional Price, Open to All

AMD announced a series of retailer-specific promotions for its flagship Radeon R9 295X2 dual-GPU graphics card. The card, which launched at US $1,499, will be available for as low as $999, as part of retailer promotions. End users (you), and not just OEMs, will be able to buy the card at the three-figure price. The card will ship with its usual Radeon Rewards package, giving you access to over a dozen free games. Based on a pair of 28 nm "Hawaii" GPUs, the Radeon R9 295X2 features a total of 5,760 Graphics CoreNext 1.1 stream processors, 352 TMUs, and 128 ROPs, split between its two GPUs, and 8 GB of memory across its two 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interfaces.

definitely no doubt about it. What is it special for the titan black or z? anyway, only guys who has that card can tell. But sure, if I have alot of money to burn, why not get it?

unfortunatly, with that r9 285 coming out soon and an r9 285x planned.... I doubt a new series will arrive soon . I hope Nvidia's 900 series will be any good so it will force some new cards from AMD

Well at that price its actually now a pretty decent deal considering 2 brand new 290X cards will run you about 1k+. On top of that with the bonus AIO cooler it makes it pretty compelling now. I wonder if the Devil 13 from PowerColor will follow suit?

Well, i sure hope that will be the case. Current GTX 780 and R-290X didn't exactly make me want them as the old HD7950 did. I mean, difference between HD6950 and HD7950 was quite big. But between HD7950 and R9-290X, i wasn't considering the price premium.

I also hope they will bring other goodies, some sort of technological advancement that makes you want to buy something new gen.

For example, back in HD6000 days, i picked higher end HD6950 just because it also had EQ FSAA (where 4x EQ was almost as good as normal 8x FSAA) where HD6800 series didn't have this. Might switch to NVIDIA camp this time around, who knows.

Nothing is forced, there's a clear trajectory.

It'll probably be:

980/970 is catching up to Hawaii (in terms of cost)
Tonga is catching up to GK104

There is a 500+mm chip in the works, I would assume coming before end of year. The 350mm chip is Tonga.
After that, at some point, is big Maxwell.

I've looked at lots of USA based stores and don't see this pricing yet

I too checked yesterday and today and well lets just say nope, no way, no can do, not a chance that you will find this card on sale for what was stated by OP.

Actually the xfx version is on newegg(for 999.99) but it's out of stock. I remember seeing it last night.

the problem nowadays is the hardware is way to fast for the software bits. game engines havent kept up with the pace the hardware has leapt up. which is why we still get so many bad game engines that are as efficient as been coded by monkeys and the public are happy just because the hardware can take it.
