READ BEFORE POSTING!! The Rules of this Forum

A little harsh isn't it? Plus who has to do it? I surely am not signing up for that!
Just a suggestion. I'm not sure of the logistics.

I'm surprised to see this at the top of the list. Why is heatware an issue now? and So what if the admin of heatware hasn't banned dup accounts. No system is going to be perfect and heatware prevents alot of bad because it forces 90% of people to be honest. some people will get burned on every forum on any business using any method as long as it protects the majority it can be used. Were not going to start handcuffing money cases to each other.

Curious, how does it force anyone to be honest ? Where is the forced honesty, policy reinforcement - Sorry just not seeing it as their own site does not mention anything like that - just talks about feedback / rating system which is what it is - which is great! Just do not confuse it with what it is not. And if that is how the forum chooses to have a feedback system then no biggie - it works for that! I was just a bit confused as it seemed like it was being promoted as a safe trading tool to curb fraud... which it could do in some small corner cases, but if one wants to commit fraud... they will commit it here or elsewhere.

The rating system across multiple forums is a cool idea - I get it - that makes total sense. Much less irritated by it now that I actually understand its intent VS. what it seemed to be touted as. [/endrant]

its a system that verifies if a user is cross-forum or not.

I'm mussels on TPU - but i'm not on tomshardware. someone could grab my avatar and public details, post duplicates of all my sale threads, use an australian proxy and pretend to be me, rake in the money and then never ship any items.

Heatware allows one user to verify "i am this person on all these forums, and NO OTHERS"

Rules question, if any mod could weigh in.

You forbid sale of "digital items." I understand this is to prevent the spread of things like MMO account trading and such, or pure (possibly illegal) software licenses, but what about attempting to buy things with bitcoin or bitcoin hashpower? I in particular own a 3TH+ in bitcoin hardware and am looking at perhaps renting some of it out in exchange for tech goodies. Would this violate the rules? I've been here a while and am hardly going to jump ship or anything, plus I'm established in the bitcoin community to boot. Still, I thought I should ask.

If it is a violation, no hard feelings. Just checking in as always. :)

Is there a particular mod I should PM? Seeing as the rules thread seems unmonitored...

You can PM @sneekypeet as he is one of the Buy/Sell/Trade moderators for this forum.

You could check with a super mod, but it seems pretty dodgy to me. Now as far as how you get paid....if you want to use BC moneys to do that, it is between you and the buyer.

B/S/T forum is for selling physical items (computer parts). Virtual items, renting, labor, services, etc. are a "no".

:)

Fair enough. My feeling is I'll rent my services in the bitcoin forums (where they belong), and spend my real world monies attained via that here.

Thanks for clarifying.

I wanted to ask a question regarding TPU rules, and the Heatware requirement....Hopefully this doesn't breach any rules by Me asking.

I have Never sold an item here on TPU, or anywhere else, however I have "items" that fit into TPU's guidlines for "FS" items(i wont list what since it might be considered "testing interest").I am considering Selling them on TPU, But since I have NO heatware account/Feedback, is it useless?
meaning, i feel like without a established account people would avoid My "items". I just dont want to take the time to list/take pics/etc.. if it is a waste of time.

If someone with experience can answer, i'd appreciate it.

Still need the account even if you have no feedback.. That way when you do sell something the buyer has somewhere to put feedback.

The heatware is necessary but as far as being concerned about it being a waste of time I wouldn't worry about that.

You're a regular active member here and that will help you sell your items... if the price is right ofc ;)

What may happen is a member with significant heat may ask you to ship the item first before paying you for it OR make some other arrangement structured to protect their transaction with you.

FWIW I personally would have no issue buying from you if you had something I was interested in :)

okay, thanks for the replies..

I'll +1 that. I'd have no problem ordering from you. Just setup the account, and if you have an eBay account, list it as well, whether you've sold there or not. I've not got any selling history there, but very solid buying, and every little bit helps for those that haven't seen you around here :)

I have one comment on my heatware and people still look at my FS thread if that tells you anything.

My first item sold here i had no Heat yet, but just stated up front. Being a regular member helped with sales, and now I have buying and selling heat.

I started with no heat
A member here was after an item which i had spare so i got heat
contacted the member to let him know i had what he wanted
that member who was interested in buying said item
cut long story short we done a deal would not have happened without heat.

@jboydgolfer
Your Rep here on the Site is Sound Sir ( I would have NO HESITATION to trade with you as no doubt many others would also) but elsewhere people will go by heat

just make a new one and build your heatware reputation, simple as that. your forum reputation counts more here, but this prevents other people pretending to be you and selling your items (with your images) on other forums, and ruining that reputation.

Now about that Gold plated housebrick you want rid of
a pic with your TPU name and your heat please :)

lol , veryyy good. How'd you guess

I recommend you add your forum name to your aliases on your heatware account, as well as ebay or any other forum you're on. I have had somebody try to use my heatware to sell on ebay, but the dumbass didn't realize have my ebay ID in my aliases and someone else caught him.

No chance of a Canadian section? Our prices are very much higher up here then the USA. ie: 980Ti in the US $650-700 up here they are $850-950! If I list a card for a fair price up here most US ppl would say, heck that's too much! ;)

That would be completely up to @W1zzard as he would have to add the tags to make that happen. You could always add said tag to your title though for now.

Also as to the second part, such comments are against the rules of that section. Feel free to report any offending posts and if indeed they are against the rules, they will be removed.

Just put [CA] in the title.

That should work for now. If a significant percentage of posts turns out to be for Canada i can sure add it as a tag
