OFFICIAL The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Discussion)

I even got about ten minutes of playing Ciri, which was cool. She has some amazing combat abilities I was not prepared for!

Spoiler Alert!! ;)

Spoiler Alert!! ;)
Nooo, the developers alerted us of this before release. And i deliberately abstained from mentioning what those abilities are, or in what context it happened, or even where in the story.

CDPR was actually much more detailed than that in what they talked about with her. I merely recounted that I had seen one of the things they discussed. CDPR isn't in the spoiler business either...no dev is. It was talked about by them as an interesting addition to gameplay mechanics.

I for one stayed away from all interviews and articles so I could enjoy the game even more. So please no spoilers and that was a spoiler for sure! lol

Alrighty then, will do. But I don't consider anything a spoiler which the devs have publicly discussed. However I will hide anything like that in a spoiler tag in the future, just for you. :)

cant wait to start messing with the INI files and see how performance is impacted. Gonna have some fun digging into this one. I feel like a teenager again back when i first started messing with Morrowind. First time since then ive had the feeling of ooooooooh lets see what it can do.

Gonna see what I can do to tame hair works. Sadly I cant limit Tessellation on the Nvidia side of things like you can with AMD.

Limit Tessellation to 6x-8x
Set Hairworks AA to 2
Turn on FXAA or MLAA TXAA w.e
gonna have to test how each impacts performance.

Took me 5 hours of swearing at how hard the "hard difficulty" actually is, only to find out I should actually visiting all the question marks on the map as they are the source of loot and wealth.... which solves all the problems :D

I am of course talking about The Witcher 3.
There's been a lot of controversy about this game's graphics going downhill from 2013 to 2015 because today's hardware isn't powerful enough. But man, even after the downgrade this game looks totally amazing.

Do you think this is the best looking rpg out there?
Take a look for yourself and decide.

What's with the trees?

I've seen videos and shots of the downgrade and after playing it for a good few hours I can safely say that this game is amazingly beautiful!
The lighting effect and saturation this game has implemented is astounding!
Tiz fantastic!!! I did expect a bit more higher res Textures for PC but it's very good regardless anyway.

Tiz a great looking game and very VERY happy with the gameplay ^^

Those are the big timekillers there! Then there is the fact that a number of those places i dont rightly level enough. And whats with all the side quests with insane levels they suggest you be at? Damn I'm going to be stuck in here forever! Having fun though!!

You said it all right there!! Anyone who thinks it doesn't look great but hasn't played it jist needs to buy it and see in person. Screenshots don't convey it at all.

To the OP, it isn't the most beautiful, IMO, but it is still stunning. But looks aren't why you play the Witcher series! They are just a bonus.

I've been cursing at this game way more than as healthy too. Haha, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Yeah, do they unlock when you look at the noticeboard? Places of power are an absolute must do.....

I visited all my question marks in white orchard and got some pleasant (unpleasant) surprises.

500% agreed! still waiting a bit on TW3 ... but i got TW recently and i have the collector or TW2 on my shelf ... and yep you said it all!

I bought Skyrim mainly for the looks and it was a huge deception. Gameplay repetitive, etc. A bit like GTA5.....
I think ARMA 3 is still fantastic.

Yes, some question marks unlock from tje notive boards, so read everything, not just the contracts. Others unlock when you talk to people. Still others when you pass by, so you really need to keep fast travel to a minimum, in order to find as maany hidden places as possible. Even if there is a reason to fast travel back to somewhere to finish a quest, there doesn't appear to be any time limits. So explore!

Yeah, it's not until you properly mod Skyrim that it becomes one of the best looking games. However, that's another game, in fact the entire Elder Scrolls series, in which the focus is on story and roleplaying, not graphics.

It is brutally hard. Takes so much work on this level to clear out ghouls. And a Bog Hag? I had to give up - barely damaging her....

Ghouls are best dealt with on horseback, slashing as you run past. Although if on foot, Arvrn? will hold one still for a few minutes. That's good for a few swordstrikes. If you constantly vary who you slice at, they stay off balance and you rarely have to deal with more than one at a time. The third way I have found to be effective is to relentlessly attack one, which pushes him back and gives you some breathing room. Finish him, and you can then return to the group and repeat.

Don't think I have encountered a bog-hag yet.

Aard works well for groups like that, some monsters can be knocked down and then it's a one-hit kill on them. Works good for drowners and humans!

Yep, pay attention to what sword you're using (Geralt usually draws the best one for the job automatically) and which signs or items you're using when fighting enemies. All it takes is some trial and error or killing one the hard way and reading the beastiary. Roll and dodge are your best friends too, spam them a lot.
