You have my sympathies. Have you tried all the fixes suggested? Including HW accelerations etc

EDIT: unrelated but my Kingpin didn't work when I installed it but it was a mobo BIOS issue. Thought I had a £700 RMA on my hands

Yes. Disabling browser HW acceleartion along with ULPS completely stopped the problem. Also as OneMoar suggested. Manually set the card to 3D freq while enabling firefox HW mode also prevent the situation from happening again. So I am certain this problem has something to do with AMD's voltage scaling for the 2D clocks.

Are you on 15.9? Try a different driver. 15.9 seems to be especially prone to this.

When I first installed the card using Windows 7 Pro I never had any problem. That was with 15.20 driver. It has become more and more frequent after upgrading to Windows 10 Pro. Right now I am using 15.9.1.

Try 15.8. I suspect this to be a win 10 thing. But nothing solid since I'm still on win 7 ultimate. Maybe try play with windows power settings for the GPU? It's obviously a power management issue of some kind.

Well, if you have the problem solved for now I would say just wait and see what more sapphire can offer since you can at least use the machine normally. They may also get an updated bios that fixes the problem for you from them.

Another option, if you have a store that sells the cards nearby you can buy another and do a swap and return it.

15.9 and 15.9.1 are the same sans the browser leak fix. Did you read the link I posted? Disabling hw accel in the browser won't stop the browser from using hw accel. You have to do it from rtss.

Same thing happens to mine. Plugging into a different display port seems to fix it everytime.

^^You can also change the desktop refresh rate to reset the ports, probably easier than physically moving the cable.

Something like this happens to me with my r9 290 at stock, i would get black screens at low loads (youtube videos, video players in general) and what i did to fix it was bumping voltage a tiny bit thou i dunno if that would help and it wouldn't hurt you try it out :)

Well at least the Fiji cards are pioneers with HBM tech, so I wouldn't overly critizize them for it. It's normal that new tech isn't perfect at the start.

I switched from AMD to NVIDIA years ago and never looked back, since their products just worked better, with very little hassle.
I was a long(est) time NV user myself and had a HD 5850 after that and NEVER any problems with it or the GeForce cards (other than 2 being broken but thats normal I guess). I even used a HD 5970 for 2 years and despite it being a old crossfire card it worked good for me WITH overclocks. There's an old saying in germany: the problem is not the pc but the person sitting in front of it. Not saying you're an idiot or something, but more expertise clearly helps to not have any problems with any electronics or PC hardware. That said, AMD hardware is probably for the more experienced or skilled user, NV is more suited to the mass and since software like GeForce experience, even more.

I've since heard about enough issues like this with AMD products to never want to touch them again and there's been lots of talk lately on TPU and elsewhere about this company being driven into the ground. Put all this together and I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on their products just to get the shaft with crap like this.
You heard it and read it up? Wow. Such statements are clearly made to damage a company and boost your own ego. What you write has nothing to do with the topic and is of no help. Its just the same Fanboy-crap like the 15 year olds are doing, just that you sound a bit more mature, but thats just words. Plain sense of your words is the same - "AMD sucks, NVIDIA IS THE BEST!". And btw. I'd bet against you any day if AMD will survive or not. You and your behaviour is just bad and helps no one. Keep what you think and want to do, to yourself, at least until someone asks you about your opinion of AMD vs Nvidia, I'd say. Even after moderator deleted your posts you didn't stop, wow.

Sorry for offtopic. @OP: good luck with fixing it / geting a new card.

I am making this post from my laptop since I can't use my desktop atm. I had this issue since launch when I bought my card locally. I tried the drivers, swapped cables, and even did the mentioned tweaks in this thread and the others. The issues are just all over, it happens on the desktop, it happens when using a web browser, I have had it happen in CS:GO sitting at the main menu, and now the latest issues I am having is with FFXIV, I will get randomly black screen flickering or a steady black screen while the driver is trying to recover itself. When I am watching a video with XBMC, I will get weird flickering horizontal lines through the screen.

I have been a long time AMD guy and this is the first time I have ever spent +$600 on a single card. Needless to say this is leaving a rather sour taste in my mouth. Suppose that's the way it goes when you are an earlier adopter.

Contacted my local store today about this and since they aren't getting any new Fury X's in anytime soon and Sapphire RMA is still a bit out, they made an exception and will let me exchange my card tomorrow.

I hope they do get this figured out but just knowing at any moment something can happen and they haven't locked down what it is exactly it is just yet. I am going to roll the dice with the Green team. I could downgrade but I mean when you pay X amount for any hardware, you shouldn't have to mess with it so much to get it stable and working.

Like a good majority here, I am all for tweaking, testing, and trying new things but it gets to a point where you just have to say enough it enough.

Working on PCs and other IT related issues all night at work, the last thing I want to do is come home and screw with my own stuff.

Did a clean install of Catalyst 15.10 beta. Screen distorted in less than 10 mins after installing new driver. After disabling ULPS the symptom is gone for now. I just forced 3D clock via the Sapphire Trixx.

This sucks. I was doing work, not browsing web, and this shi*tty problem just popped up again. I have to turn off the monitor, wait ~10 seconds and turn it back on for the screen to return to normal.

The strange thing is I can never find any dirver related issue in system log. If this happens more and more often I will press Sapphire for a replacement definitely. Spent $650 and I am not happy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but ULPS is for CF configs to disable the secondary GPU when idle/desktop, right ? So it won't make any difference with one card.
I have the artifacting issue with all drivers I even increased the lowest Powertune state voltage by 25 mV (0.9V -> 0.925V) and still the same....

Correct. ULPS is only for crossfire cards. Your artifacts, that is on the desktop I presume? Have you tried checking to see what app is calling for hw accel at the time of the artifact?

Yes, idle desktop or in a web browser.
Well, I've had it with Chrome, Steam and when none of them ran :D So I guess HW accelaration makes it happen more frequently but it's not the only reason.

Check this link out. It's a walkthrough for setting up AB and using it's RTSS server to control/disable hw accel. I've found that certain drivers can be more or less resistant to powerstate changes, so a lot of the time you have to take matters into your own hands. And you can also backup your profiles so you don't have to re-input settings with each new version, in the case that you have to wipe first, etc.

The AMD How To Thread

I've modded my bios/ccc settings to limit the power states, here are the PowerTune states with the default bios/settings:

DPM0: GPUClock = 300 MHz, VID = 0.90000 V
DPM1: GPUClock = 508 MHz, VID = 0.93100 V
DPM2: GPUClock = 717 MHz, VID = 0.93700 V
DPM3: GPUClock = 874 MHz, VID = 1.03700 V
DPM4: GPUClock = 911 MHz, VID = 1.07500 V
DPM5: GPUClock = 944 MHz, VID = 1.11200 V
DPM6: GPUClock = 974 MHz, VID = 1.15300 V
DPM7: GPUClock = 1040 MHz, VID = 1.25000 V

My custom profil for desktop tasks:

And still artifacting, I guess it's not an issue with the GPU power states or it's more complex.

I think it's more productive avoiding the constant switching of states than to try to band aid it.

Got a new version of vBIOS from Sapphire today with UEFI support. It seems it has fixed my problem.

would you upload it to tpu? i ordered my fury x and it should arrive at my door step soon, but i hope i wouldn't need to update the vbios

I tried, it said it already has this version. Weird. When I try to upgrade from the BIOS here at TPU none of those work.

Glad your problem got fixed. Have fun with the card.

I think this has to do with the naming. You need to upload it under a different name if possible, then it could work. I think the Sapphire bios found on TPU are the older ones and the system thinks you're trying to upload the same one.

I think it's too early to tell... My Sapphire Fury "once" worked fine for 2 weeks.

i have received my card and all seems good - it's msi, non UEFI

So far so good. I like the UEFI secure boost function. It boots up way faster now.

Can you upload the new vBIOS file ? I asked Sapphire support about a new bios but they keep sending me registry files to reset my CCC settings instead :D
