OFFICIAL Rust (Discussion)

Well I figure I will toss this up here I think one guy here still plays on my server. I've decided to cancel my server. It's been quite awhile now and it just can't seem to get going again. I think two people play on my server daily and I just can't justify paying for a server for nothing. If the population would have increased as I had hoped then I would continue to support the server but no matter what I do I can't seem to attract new players so I guess it's time to say goodbye.

I will continue to play on another server but I think my time is done. Thanks to all of you that did play in the past for helping to make my server fun!

With the new build being released soon, you can create your own server. They built their own network code that they are testing and they are ditching uLink.

That is cool to know. More so if we can make them private. The only downside is there will be a million servers....lol

Game was just updated. Completely revamped, building is easy, procedural maps, better graphics and 1000% more bears.

Game has been completely revamped for a really long time now. Past 4 months or so was when it became better than legacy (original rust). Past month they have really improved the already great visuals. They update almost weekly and the game just gets better and better.

I have well over 700 hours into this game and to be honest I'm a little burnt out. Took the last few weeks off and expect to take another month off or so before heading back.

I have not played in over a year, I will download it again.

I played last night and some areas of the map brought my 970 to its knee's! They need to do some optimizing to get it just right but it did look great!

Loved this survival games. I started with minecraft, then bought 7 days 2 Die, then Ark Survival and now Rust. So far I like Rust. If anyone here plays rust, let me know. I am planning to host a server for Pinoy players :)
I built a facebook group called "Rust Players Philippines" and if anyone is interested, join there so we can talk and play together.

I still play Rust but taking another break. This is one of my all time favorite games. Honestly I can't claim any game that has kept me playing for over 900 hours in a little over a years time. Rust is completely different compared to what it was at release or even what it was just 6 months ago. It continues to evolve into something better and better.

Enjoy it dude.

Our man Taco, from a very flattering perspective. Sometimes you need to give a buddy a boost up in life. Hey, this kid can stand on my shoulders any day.

Please tell me you aren't trying to stick that gun somewhere?! lol

I still play this on a weekly basis. Love it.

Yeah, erocker, Taco, and my brother-in-law have been playing a bunch lately. Brandon even joined the server tonight, so hopefully he'll be in for some antics. Been playing on Rusty|LowPop|, it's a slightly modded server. Bought the game a few weeks ago and already have 92 hours.

I've played the old Rust with erocker. I admin a server that is modded. You guys are welcome to try it out. The pop goes up and down. We usually have around 7-15 on during peak times. Sometimes way more, sometimes way less. The server pop fluctuates.

I go by Rambo in game. i don't own the server though. I just admin. Glad you like the game! It can be a lot of fun. I have 1145 hours in it now. I think I have a Rust addiction!

"Rust Addicts" and the IP# is 8.6.9.151:28016

I swear im not a slut, i dont give everyone that kind of view

I'll have to try it. I've played a little rust...but I suck horridly at surviving lol.

I've started playing a bit again recently. A lot has changed from a year or two ago...the one complaint I have is load times are fucking atrocious. I don't have it on my SSD (I think) and it takes a few minutes for the initial game to load and to get into a server it's about the same...I swear it has taken me about 10 minutes to get into a server from start. That's awful.

Anyways...I still wish they hadn't of taken out the zombies. The new building system is nice. I played Hapis which was okay then a procedural map (I assume) which was pretty interesting - though seemed huge and impossible to find a friend on. Also, seriously...I shouldn't have to worry about my character when I log out. Sleeping in the server after logging off is stupid.

This is what makes or breaks this style of survival game for folks. I don't mind getting into RUST but if you don't live to play it daily or group up with folks so someone is on it daily, you're eventually gonna get looted and killed.

But they're working on making the first hour of the game less remedial tasks-based and more get in and go from what they announced earlier this year...we shall see. Mod servers help to fix this by allowing bonuses when you start fresh, so you can build a base and get going again...that way if you do die, it doesn't take much or long to get back to where you were.

At the same time, I think it's kind of cool to have the risk of leaving your character persistent whether you are on or off the server...adds to the risk vs. reward, especially if you have a pretty beefy and well-stocked outpost that you think can last a week...it is like a dare to your design...and of course waiting for updates to wipe everything out. At the end of the day, for me I just can't get into the game enough to want to dedicate more of my available time to it, as I'm too damn casual of a gamer anymore. But it sure is entertaining to watch my buddies play or join in with them here and there.

I like the fact that people cannot log off with all of their best loot. I get raided all the time and lose my shit. That is part of rust. Forces you to build smarter that is for sure.

Agreed. I've been lucky, mostly, that a few of us usually get busy after a server wipe and establish a base that is hard to raid, so no real loot worries. If I start out scraping, I just make a few small stashes and put my meager best into them before logging out. This strategy isn't as fool proof on non-modded servers because you will have to run clear back to your stash location, on the servers I play on I just set a home point and teleport there after death.

On a side note, I still think that the newer "plateau" style rock formation provides an unraidable base when your master tool cabinets are in the main structure. There is no real way to build a platform up to the goodies. Any thoughts?
