The Biostar Racing Z170GT7 is a fully-featured high-performance platform that includes an LN2 switch. Unlike previous motherboards from Biostar that were affordable with more basic features, this one has everything a gamer would want and does very well in our testing.

Ok..hmm..only 1.77v
Everybody's giving it close to 2v for ...benching.
Only 1 RAM phase..hmm..
The umm..z87x hi-fi was pretty good.
I'm guessing this is good for the price.
Not sure about taking it cold, though.
A)Not 'nuff Vcore
B)3200 max RAM Mhz
C) 1 RAM phase
 
Specifications show Ram up to 3866MHz, yet the review keeps mentioning 3200MHz max.
Is the 3200 maximum at stock clocks?
Good review and a nice board.
For people like me on a budget it would do the job and still look good.

interesting board (and nice test setup :D ) a lot given for the price ... but not where i am

and here is why:
altho ... price 165$ or less ... CURSE ME TO BE SWISS ... average price 239chf = 246$~ ... is that even normal???

yep budget board priced like a mid-high end as you can see above :cry: i wonder about the "real" price everywhere around the world ... and not the "165$ or less"

in fact i notice that my GA-Z170X Gaming 5 is 178chf now (initial price was 199) 230 and above was the Gaming 7 and Maximus VIII Hero (in some way it's almost logical since that Biostar board is more on the level of those than any other sub 200$ board)

My manual and the box say 3200 MHz? Expand out the picture of the rear of the box and see. Even the label on the box with the serial number says the same. I found that to be a bit odd, hence it being mentioned more than once. Seeing it thrice and me receiving the board recently is what it is.
 
No SLI?!?
 
IMHO, a motherboard over $150 had better have both multi-GPU technologies.

True, but... is there a reason you(read: anyone) would be really pushing overclocks on such a board??? Not sure why you would hold it to such standards when its not made for it.

That is like being pissed off a Honda Civic doesn't have enough horsepower for a race against a Ferrari.... use your head schmuckly. ;)
 
cheapest feature-packed Z170 board I've seen in months. Sad that those LED kits are only limited to the US... but that can be rectified using NZXT HUE+ RGB lighting kit.

This newer stuff takes moar voltajes.
I like Biostar..usually their stuff you can seriously OC if you want to.
They use better quality chokes and mosfets, too..

Somehow, this board reminds me of Abit QuadGT, with nice blue LED and limited, adjustable LED lighting pattern. Decent overclocker too.

Biostar reminds me of a boosted civic... yeah, it has the horsepower, but its still a civic. You want to race, get the Ferrari. In this case, the difference between boards is what, under $100? ANd if you are Hwboting/racing, you'll want that kind of board anyway for best results.
 
a boosted Civic is more interesting than a factory Ferrari IMO since the prancing horse is a track ready car, not a prowler like the boosted Civic.
 
got mine from Biostar's Global giveaway. Came directly from Biostar Taiwan since it ain't available in my country yet and it comes with the led strip

Set XMP, CPU multi to 48, CPU voltage to 1.325V. Done. Z170 OC isn't terribly hard nor complicated. Of course, I do have hand-picked ES CPUs to play with so YMMV.

Sounds too easy to be true. I like the look and price of this motherboard.

I know, right? Yet that is how OC on Intel is currently. If it was more involved than that I'd have written a guide to the platform for OC, but truth be told I'd just be wasting time.

6700K is 4.0 GHz @ stock, most CPU will do 4.4-4.6 GHz on similar voltage.

Memory OC is s bit more difficult, as you should be able to tell easily by how so many boards have different max memory speeds that they support(3200, 3600, 3886, 4000, 4266+), but most boards and CPUS will do 3200 MHz memory without any problem (although some boards and some CPUs cannot).
