Allllright! The Promised Amature TPU HTC Vive Review

So I got my Vive on Monday. Unfortunately I was caught in a lot of work and didn't have time to set it up. Today I finally got the time to play with it.

It came in a gigantic box. Pretty good protection. HTC did a LOT of work to make sure it comes in perfect condition.



And the opening.



And my cat keeps walking around to check it out.






There is a gazallian little pieces of stuff in the box, all organized in a awesome fashion.



Pretty awesome controller. No, FUCKING FUCK AWESOME

Testing the headset


I gotta say it is pretty comfortable. It can fit my prescription glasses with no problem at all. There are two straps on both side and I was able to adjust it easily while inside the headset.

For testing purpose I haven't setup the base station just yet. I placed one on my tower and the other on the bookshelf.





And finish the installation:




The installation process was as polished as it can be. It is even easier than setting up some of the new smartphones! It linked with my Steam account right away. Following through the steps to test the base station and controller. Then I strap the headset on.

Tried all the available VR applications. HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK that was GOOOD

That experience was simply mind fucking. It was like Vive took my soul out of my body on a romantic date, then went to the most luxury hotel and fucked it red hot nonstop.


The FuryX performed awesomely in rendering the scenes.


Next on I tried Pornhub VR.

Freaking unbelievable.



Now the regular TPU review sh*it:

Pros: Everything

Cons: Controller ran out of juice after 5hrs of playing.


Verdict:
BUY IT!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have no idea what you are missing out.

TO ALL the doubters and haters. This is the future. Don't resist it.

Well, this confirms what I've heard elsewhere about how awesome this thing is. I watched the CS:GO 1v1 tournament sponsored by HTC last weekend, and they had a Vive set up there as well for when the players weren't playing, and it looked pretty cool. Also the casters were going on and on anout how incredible it was, and it didn't seem scripted ;)

Also: darn you for having the same case as me, now I can't stop thinking about how that little box would look on my desk :D

i watched this youtube vid a while back and i found it to be honest, if nothing else....entertaining was also a part, but it was very nice to see people who are "unbiased" just use it. see for yourself....4/2016 **@10:05 - 10:20'ish i almost pissed myself.**

Sooo did you like it?... haha Next question when you where watching PHVR (Not to be confused with PSVR) did you find the hole in the controllers to be big enough? j/k.. lol I had too.. Man, I can't wait to get one.. I'm trying to respect my wife and wait till everything settles and then buy one, but to me the Vive is the clear winner between the Rift and the Vive.. Now that may change whenever Touch comes out for some. The sad thing is the game I want the most is a PSVR exclusive.. Crytek's Robinson: The Journey

 
Is it possible to show how grainy the image is on the Vive? Or is it sharp?

The point made at the 3:45 mark was the most relevant I think. Most VR games thus far are just cheap physics demos, and many overpriced. At the price they're selling the kits, and the poor software content thus far, it will be some time before VR catches on, IF it really does enough to carry it with consistently good games. As for the Vive, it's certainly no feather in Valve's cap as well that most SteamOS games run worse than the Windows versions. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence for what kind of content Vive will get.
 
Just finished 10 pornhub clips in a row. Man I am exhausted. Controller died again. So one full charge should give you 5.5~6hrs. Not bad at all.

Image is very sharp. Not grainy at all. It seems I can even force 4xAA on some of the VR titles through Radeon Settings.

Also, 3DMark looks amazing within VR.

If Wizard or some reviewers live in Illinois I would highly suggest they come and try.
