OFFICIAL Star Citizen

I finally received my physical universe map from my early backing. looks very nice and shiny. Last time i was in game like 6moths ago, is it worth to check it out again>?
Eh... When patch 2.5 goes live, maybe but performance is still pretty bad. The new server config is coming out in 2.7 that's supposed to fix the lag.

Your comment on the engine makes it sound like you'd rather they use a different engine? When Star Citizen development started CryEngine was the best engine out there for what they wanted to build

I personally think that CryEngine is the best and their development kit is also good but I don't think that Crytek would allow their code to be used in open source game whereas Unreal Engine allows that.

They are not opensource but yet they have a source available on github.
CryEngine was great while it was a "black box" (until it went semi open source) ... after indie devs went into the code and realized it's bloated and non maintainable, CryEngine slowly started losing popularity ... can't fathom what it means for a whale of a game like this one.

End of this year we should have this. Looks amazing.

I watched that presentation a 2nd time lol

That video is so funny, people cheering in astonishment when the door to that plane opens and similar situations, like aliens would come to earh and show them their spaceship. :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Plane lol ... these folks probably didn't have access to the interior of that new space ship model in the previous build. They all funded the game and their excitement is understandable considering the awesomeness of the demo.

The side door didn't function properly on the Freelancer, and been a point of annoyance for owners :)

When this game does release it is going to be something special for sure.

Alpha 2.5 just went live.

Lol. They really clip this together to make it look exciting!

I saw a little clip in there that isn't from 2.5 either.

check your drivers or something lol.
I have a worse PC than yours and it works fine.

Hm. At some point in time, or I missed it initially, I gained the ability to upgrade my Mustang Omega from my AMD card to another ship.... so, that's a $55 credit towards an upgrade :) That little Avenger Stalker looks cute.....

yeah the Avenger is great. It's a decently capable little fighter with cargo space, a bed, and the cells.

I decided to download and see how things have come along the other day and I loaded up the mode where you can walk around the space station or whatever that is. I saw a lot of helmets and guns floating in the air and the game would literally freeze every minute...then I'd walk some more...freeze....then look around...freeze....

So I suppose I will wait for another update. lol

I'm comparing the 2 right now... I prefer a utility role as a general rule, unfortunately more of a Jack of All, sort of thing. As such, I think the Avenger might be more up my way. I'm trying to find a direct comparison page somewhere heheh

edit* Bah, found it :)

I just installed star citizen again. Things have improved and it looks amazing. The game looks great even on low graphics. I wish I had more control over which graphics, and could turn some on or off.

The persistent universe was really laggy though. I tried to do a few missions but after each hyperspace leap I would lag really bad, and be killed by pirates before I could respond. I did get to kill the pirates once but lost control of my character.

why do you have it on low lol?
I play on high. ;)

I play on high. ;)
better ...play it being high with a VR headset and a h.o.t.a.s. ... wait ... nevermind ... bad advice :p

I do gotta say that this most recent release does seem buggier than what I recall playing earlier this year. I didn't give it much time to be honest...I am super hopeful this title continues to progress and get more frequent updates. I am still glad to have backed it, and am eager to sit down and enjoy it more. Maybe I'll try to make more time to give it a fair shake after this last update...but after watching the 3.0 stream...I just want that update to be released already!!! lol.

I have recently gotten back into space simming...and right now Elite Dangerous is doing a better job of scratching that itch than SC is ATM.

I recently downgraded to a 750ti. Since I made that post I now have a user.cfg file that really makes the graphics low. It still looks gorgeous. I am really glad motion blur is gone.
Having low settings like this hopefully will remove myself as the benchmark so I am entirety limited by the server.

lol, it seems we're playing different games then.
For me, 2.5 is the smoothest update to date.

The game that is buggy atm is BF1. lol

Hmm. SC is crashing for me about every 30 minutes unless I am practically the only one on the server. I am getting all sorts of bugs no one has ever heard of.

I've heard BF1 is a nightmare...I gave up on BF after 4...just lost interest altogether... really CoD4 and BC2 were my last really enjoyed MP shooters.

Ya like I said before, I didn't give 2.5 much of a chance...only about 10 minutes...thankfully on SSD means I got a couple of starts. I ran around...things glitched out bad on the first server, and less so on the second one. I guess that was enough to deter me and I went back to what does work really well on my PC. Maybe it was a driver deal, network issue, bugs, likely all the above.

If I get done with this remote work I might give it a go again. :D

I did all the missions and found grim hex. I had purchased all the things I wanted. I had basically completed all the content Crusader has to offer. Then I decided to play evil, because it is practically the wild west in there. I wanted to see what I could get away with. I began my evil crusade by greifing at the launch port. I would take my ship and ram into other player’s ships knocking them off of the landing pad. This was a dick move because it forced them to go back inside to request another ship.

After I got bored of that I stole some player’s specialty fighter ship called a Hornet. I made my way over to a popular mission point that required players get of their ship. When they would get out, I would destroy their ship stranding them in space. This again, was a dick move because it forced them to suicide and start the mission all over again. It did not take long for people to notice. Four of my victims were upset enough that they publically banded together to try and kill me. They chased me through four quantum jumps, which is not easy to do, before I lost them. I just jumped to a repair dock and I found a new victim. There was a super ship, a big one, called a constellation. I unloaded everything my Hornet had into this thing and it still didn’t die. The player realized what was going on and tried to make a run for it. I could not seem to kill him with my weapons so I began ramming him as I went by. On my fifth ram both our ships exploded killing us both.

When I respawned I found a Connie out of the landing pad. I went inside intending to steal the ship, but the pilot was already in the chair. He saw me but didn’t care. I sat next to him to see where he would go. It turned out he was trying to get to Grim Hex which is a long way away and takes time to get there. When we were 80% of the way there I took out my shotgun and killed him. I commandeered his ship. Killing him branded me as a criminal in the game. You can remove this status by hacking a terminal at the security station. I took my freshly stolen Connie over to the security station. I landed, but then some guy named Pillar destroyed my ship. I deserved that I guess. I went inside, hacked the terminal, and cleared my name. As I was exploring the security post some guy snuck up behind me and shot me dead. When I respawned I headed back there to kill him, but Pillar was defending the security station. Apparently he had been killing any and all who tried to clear their name. It turned out the guy who shot me had been stranded there for some time because pillar had killed his ship, and his friends rescue ship. I began trying to kill Pillar so I could make it into the security base to kill the other guy. Others came and joined me and turning it into a 3 on 1 dogfight against pillar. Pillar was flying a Connie, which are strong. The three of us ran out of ammo and fuel before we could actually kill him. I died and ended my evil crusade for the night.
