I have two Samsung 4K 60Hz Monitors w/ FreeSync and a 4K TV hooked up to my desktop. I currently have a GTX 1060 3Gb which I got for $184.99. It's a great value but I'm playing Witcher 3 at 1440p and it ranges from 38-47 on Ultra. I'm looking to improve this so I found an EVGA GTX 980 Ti for $299 shipped which should hopefully get me ~50-60 fps on most high-end games. My question is, Is it worth it to get a Fury for $239.99 or a Fury X for $299.99 so I can benefit from FreeSync at roughly 10 fps less than 980 Ti performance?
I could wait for Vega but I I think it will likely come out late in December and then benchmarking, reviews will take a bit of time so I think I'd be looking at mid Jan at least before purchasing. Also, I'd like to keep my budget at $300 so I don't think I'd get a brand new Vega card for that price. The best I can hope for is a Fury X price drop or getting a good deal for a $300 1070 around Christmas.
