Hi Guys

I've reached the point where I need to upgrade some components again. currently going full on ryzen is not really an option due to pricing and all the stock for the r5 1600x being sold out.

current system specs as follows:

FX8120
Gigabyte R9 280X
4x 4gb Corsair Vengeance 16 gb ddr3 1600
Asus M5A99X pro 2.0 mobo
Corsair TX850w psu

my plan was to get a FX8350 and a better gpu but due to the current spate of crypto miners all the RX470 to 580's are sold out here in South Africa

so my question is this, is the 8350 worth upgrading to from a 8120 and would a better gpu help?

resolution I am playing at is 2560x1080, would like to run games like Mass Effect: Andromeda at max detail.

What cpu cooling are you using?

Antec A40 Pro

FX 8350 worth only if u get it cheap and sell the 8120,also need to OC but to be honest i think sell it and get 1151 socket or Ryzen/AM4

For gpu 1070 or higher .. goodluck

currently load temps reach 56 degrees celcius, I have not over clocked the cpu or gpu ambient temps in the room can get to 30 degrees but the I turn on the aircon. thermal paste I have used is thermal grizzly aeronaut, pea method

yes it is

Wait, i just caught you have a 8120.

Which do tend to run hotter than the 8300 series.

If you can find a 8300, 8320, 8350 at a decent price I'd say go for it, I'd Also upgrade that 7970 you have there to a 570 If possible.

Otherwise save up some cash for those parts or a total system upgrade

thanks. the 8350 and gpu option will be a hell of a lot cheaper than a full system over haul right now

You might be able to get 4.5-4.8, where you are with it

Stick with 8350 and OC also is good that u have 16 GB already
