Even in metro I have set physics on

it's interesting because Physx used to make no difference in Metro Last Light back when I had an ATI card.

I will only consider the VEGA once I see the custom boards.
Want to replace this good old 480 Red Devil, works great but now I need more power.
Maybe a 56 Red Devil?
With this mining crazy pricing I might as well sell this 480 now and get some money.

Ya I mentioned that as most reviews turn them off..

Ya 56 should be the best bet. But I heard it’s power locked and no bios mode or registry tweak support either.. so don’t expect it to OC much..

Next time a warning would be nice with all these pictures, you can reduce the size of the post by adding spoiler tags around the pics.

insert pictures here so we dont have to spend half our life scrolling down to see the thread responses

First gen PS3 took 300w, this rig probably pulls 400 (and pushes 10-15x the performance or so?). What's the big deal. This rig will idle much better as well :D

Having said that, mine probably pulls a little over half that number

Don't be so ridiculous. It probably uses a lot less than my 2013 Intel+Nvidia system.

Edit: maybe about the same

regardless who cares? Its certainly more capable.

Nice system and thanks for sharing the benchmark results.

yes we need that $5 a month to live.
We care about the heat output and noise levels, not our electricity bills, that too difficult to comprehend

As @cucker tarlson mentioned, what's actually important is heat and noise, not power draw.

Looking at noise levels of the reference Vega, I really don't understand who would buy that. I would have to live alone and always use the PC in headphones.
IMO this card only makes sense if you plan to replace the cooler (preferably with a liquid one), at which point the total cost would easily raise above a good 1080Ti. Pfff.
And the fan is not switching of in idle - something people got used to lately. Even some 1080Ti can do that.

We'll see if AIB partners manage to fix this, but the coolers will have to be substantial, so not cheap. I think they'll get pretty close to the 1080Ti as well.
There are already rumors that the premium for AIB cards will be record high. And that the cards might end up factory downclocked...

And you're from Florida, so it's not like you could use the extra heat as well.
I bet you have air-conditioning at home - it would have been "noticing" that Vega as well.

Measured in power - yes. But in energy/month? I think the PC "wins" that one.

Asus uses the 1080ti strix shroud on it and looks to be quite successful with it.

About the power bill: refrigerators win, and if you have an average sized family washing clothes will also easily exceed average to above average energy use of a full fat PC. Vega doesnt change that at all...
