i just checked bitdefender..it has got 1st rank..and only 20-30mb size of installation file..
and norton/kaspersky having too much..

is bitdefender is really best internet security program?
i know size doesnt matter but i want to know reviews from those who used it..

suggest me which one i should install among norton,nod32,kaspersky and bitdefender.

i voted kaspersky cause im running it at the momet on vista ultimate and find it very stable, doesnt use many resources and doesnt bother you with pop ups every 5 minutes.

i would have voted for avg (free version) as ive used this for years with xp and it has all the plus points of kaspersky also

Isn't your poll the suggestion for a new one? AVG has a free version. Kaspersky might as well. I use NOD32 and love it. It's light, effective, thorough, and has a silent mode that won't bother you with popups. Your antivirus is nothing more than a tray icon that becomes a control center should you choose to click it.

Havent seen a serious virus hit PCs in many years....We are at the age of trojans and malware, viruses no longer apply since theres nothing to be gained by them.
However Trojans and generally malware can be used to keep tags on people, steal passwords etc etc etc.

You seem to have your mind set on Bitdefender. Just get it then. None of us have mentioned it. I used it briefly. It was fine. Pretty light. Sometimes annoying popups, but maybe later versions have options for notifications. I'm quite sure you'll have a good time with Bitdefender.

Should be quite apparent now, that Anti-Spy/Malware is a joke.

If you just run a frequently updated host file, you shouldn't be getting spy/malware. Plus staying off the warez/pr0n sites helps as well.

Stupid ? Sit down and talk to people that really have a grasp on things and they will all say the same. I talk to IT Professionals , Anti-Virus Companies Techs and Programmers and they all agree on that.
The 90s were the decade where viruses ruled...After 2000 we stepped into a new play field like it or not.

lolz..so r u sure u wont get old/new virus in ur pc from any sourse?
trojens are also detected by antiviruses..
btw bitdefender has also antispyware and anitmalware function

That's horrible logic. People will always adapt and find new reasons to do so, even if it's "just to do it."

Viruses are changing, not the playing field. Symantec just released a beta of Norton Antibot.

I could understand Vagabond's point, if he meant there's no new real or groundbreaking threats out there, as everything is really just a spinoff of some trojan from the Back Orrifice days, but such threats still exist.

Vaga, you mention a new play field? Elaborate please. I suspect you're insinuating that virii as we know it is not as affective, so there's some new 'kid' on the block per se?

What does Vista have to do with it? The stock security is better, but I hacked myself in less than two minutes when I first got a copy of Ultimate.

I think your logic here, is that older virii will not function properly or run on Vista because of their coding. That's some serious Russian Rhoulette thinking though.
