The Samsung 970 EVO is the company's offering for users who want the blazing speeds of NVMe, but aren't willing to pay premium for the 970 Pro. Read speeds of the 970 EVO match the 970 Pro; writes are lower, but still very good at 1.7 GB/s.

I have one of these, it runs great. The only thing that slightly annoys me is that NVMe initialization time, it adds to the boot time.

Two SATA (spinning rust) hard drives, an external USB (spinning rust) hard drive, and an external USB attached DVD-RW drive.
 
surprising to find that this drive stays very close to it's more expensive sibling; the 970 PRO 512GB.
