I prefer world of tanks.... why? Been with WoT since Beta

War Thunder, WoT is too P2W and arcade, just like a mobile game. If I want to play with a health bar and randomised aiming, I can just play Overwatch.
Now, you need lots and lots of patience to pay War Thunder, especially on Japanese planes and tanks, it's not easy nor forgiving.

Just Play both and see for yourself

World of Tanks. Matches last no longer than 15 minutes so I can just play a game or two in my down time. The mechanics are certainly more arcade like but they're well documented and understanding them allows you to have a proper impact in the matches you play. It's been shaky lately with the continuous addition of extremely good premium tanks, and starting out fresh is unforgiving for new players. I have all the tanks I want already though and it's easy to just play those and enjoy the game.

War thunder all the way. I tried WoT and it felt like Call of Duty (Flashy and Gimmicky). Been playing WT since its release and still love it!

World of Warships, obviously.

Armoured Warfare :p

I tried both WoT and WT and really can't get into either. But you should check out Armoured Warfare too, in my opinion it's a hidden gem of a game, living in the shadow of those two. But I mostly play it for the PvE. (PvP is too much stress for me).

PvE is fairly boring. If they added in a good mission editor and various unit types like infantry, AT guns and helicopters it would have been great. PvP/GLOPS is where it is at.

Although the game is in a perpetual beta. The quality is pretty low throughout - graphics, sound you name it. And some of the balancing is bad. But overall it can be fun. Lately they've been pushing cheesy cosmetics and premium vehicles though. I wish they could up the quality in a meaningful way but I don't see that happening. But I do like the game. It just hasn't reached the level it should be at and sadly likely never will be.

Was a WT beta tester for planes & tanks, have a few hundred hours sunk into the game over the years, and honestly after the first 2-3 ranks it's gone way too P2W.

For fun a while ago a I created a new "smurf" account to see the new player experience ...

felt like... :nutkick:

Yeah, that about describes it.

It's not even about grinding, it just gets really expensive to be a new player...

I did closed Beta for WOT and am still playing it now some 9 years later, have played AW and it's good, in fact for the mainstream gamer possibly better but for me I prefer WOT because I am old and slow :D.

Yeah, as someone who plays Japanese planes most of the time (the slowest, most expensive planes, often with mediocre guns), I can say that is a difficult game. If you don't pay, you are forced to learn defensive flying, setting energy taps and having good judgement of when to engage. To me, that makes it better.
Nothing is better than taking down a P51 Mustang and a Spitfire in a 2v1 with a Zero.

Now, Japanese tanks... Those are hard to use, slow speed, slow turning, slow turrets, almost no armour, and only sometimes a good cannon.

World of Tanks. New HD version, works under windows and linux. Native version for linux. Warthunder does work with wine however but I don't care for it. Wot is a bit arcade, but it's bloody fun under any os.

I gotta disagree with you on the graphics. I think it looks great, and the tank models are easily as good as they are in War Thunder, IMO. Each to their own i guess.

Oh! Having infantry in PvE, that would be great. I used to play Arma2 a bit back in the day lol, make my own missions and place loads of vehicles and troops then watch the epic battles, i should install it again. Never got into Arma3 though.

WT has a Linux version and (beta) Vulkan support.
