Is R9 290X 4 GB compatible with motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1494 ?

my pc :
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
motherboard :Hewlett-Packard 1494
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)

I doubt the PSU even has the required 8 Pin and 6 Pin for the 290x anyway. That's the problem with pre-builts. They usually aren't very upgradeable.

if original PSU No... and even if it was a beast of a PSU, if its in the HP case still no, 290X will kick out a lot of heat. just buy suitable a GTX 1050 or RX 560, if your PSU has a 6 pin PCIE connector just buy any.. if it doesn't you will want a card with no additional PCIE power cable requirements

Update the motherboard bios first before risking any 2013+ GPU.

He will definitely need a PSU too

yes ,so i will upgrade psu

What power supply (PSU) do you have ?
If so it's a categorical no, the 290x is a 250w card
you are right , i will buy new psu

They system won't boot with those newer video cards.

I'm sure 290 series have uefi and legacy bios switch, no?

I know my 290 does but unsure if all 290/Xs have dual switches for that matter.

Best to run latest bios possible even if just a beta.
