Is this adapter legit? Haven't seen this kind before.

My mobo powers off of a 4pin eps, not an 8pin eps, so theoretically could I turn the 8pin eps into an 8pin pcie safely using this adapter.

Yeah, I see no technical reason why this wouldn't work

Thanks, dude! I hope this doesn't fry my mobo, but I trust you. Will upgrade my psu in a few weeks and use this for the time being.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Perhaps I am missing something here, but why are you turning the 8-pin EPS into a PCIe adapter? If your mobo is 4-pin and that PSU doesn't have a 4+4 EPS.....

What is going to power the CPU/EPS if you are using the ONE EPS lead from the PSU? Some higher quality and more powerful units have 2 EPS power leads, but if you take one away and change it to PCIe... how are you going to run the PC? Are you trying to run a dual PSU solution until you get a new one?

My pcu isn't modular, it has an 8pin eps and a 4 pin eps, I only need to use the 4pin eps.

I have a 6 pin, but not an 8pin which I need for my card, so I want to make the 8pin eps into an 8pin pcie

Modular? Not sure what that has to do with things, but ok. :)

Why not take a molex -> PCIe adapter instead? I worry that you can overload a rail (if it is a dual rail in the first place - though I doubt it as it is only 500W).

Can you take a quick picture of the PSU label with all the specs please?

I am at school right now and it's 6th block, I have free time and am on a laptop.
I know I have 2 molex pins, but I feel like the 8 pin eps would be able to supply more power than 2 molexes.

Nope. :)

It is more common to use molex to PCIe than it is to go EPS to PCIe. Granted, either will work with the right adapter, but just saying. ;)

That PSU is serviceable, yes. Better than that Rosewill (likely) but not top notch. If you have the change, I'd look at the EVGA G3 line. I'd also go with 650W as that will handle juuuuuuuuust about any CPU and single GPU whereas 500W can be a problem in limited (high-end) circumstances. It will be fine with what you have.

I have about like $40-60 bucks to spend on a PSU, but I want to have enough money for the Model O, when it releases on Saturday
