i5-6500T 2.5GHz Overclock?

I picked up this 2.5GHz 35W CPU very cheap second hand. Multi-thread performance is descent, but single core is mediocre due to low clock speed.

How far do you think I can push this thing?

Juiced it for a whopping +78% overclock. Performance scaling seems pretty nice too. I turned it back down to 4200MHz for now

Much better than the stock 2.5GHz.

Looking good, seems you got your memory dialed in as well. I always like comparing before and after scores with AIDA64 cache and memory benchmark.

I decided to turn down the CPU OC to 4089 and turn up the RAM to 2400CL9 for 24/7. This helped thermals a lot. Needs delid to open up more thermal headroom. I am getting about 35K in AIDA and about 54ns latency. I'll have to check what it was a stock.

but the first scrshot clearly says i5 6500T...

I think some companies released BIOS versions that could OC locked chips. I remember Intel got mad at them and they "fixed" newer versions. Maybe he still has that?

Using the beta BIOS from Asrock's product page for the z170k4d3

I also did the same with an i3-6100 and even a Celeron G3900

With the custom bios are you flashing on the stock 6500t i5 motherboard or did you place on a new Asrock motherboard?

Is it possible I can overclock by adding new bios on a hp g3 mini to overclock without changing any hardware?
