Feedback for new TPU design

Very nice job! Although I'd like to see some mouse-over color on the menu links (Reviews, Articles, Downloads etc).

Would the date bar follow normally those buttons? So there usually wouldn't be any articles right below them, if not a special occasion.

yes without sticky news the datebar will immediately follow

I understand the RSS feed, whats the Windows live thing though?

its a m$ service that lets you add certain feeds to your live page and also notify you when the site has changed in msn messenger

I was angry on thinking in the change, but I test the new design and I realy like it. I gues that the secret is the conservation of the simplicity of the original desing, with only a graffic upgrade and som very simple and usefull options, like the scrolls of the reviews with the arrows.

I enter on the web daily, no other review page for me. I found Techpowerup when looking for the x800pro to XT PE mod (oh what a days!).

Go on boys! Is good to renew.

In general it looks cool - much more professional. The only two problems I have are

1) The forums don't match the front page at all anymore, but presumably that will change with time

2) I don't like fixed width much. It either shows up wrong in small windows or has ugly grey borders at the side.

Agreed with both points.

Just noticed the fixed width.

looks much cleaner overall but like most I think the logo needs some attention

There seem to be a lot of complaints about the logo, just thought I'd add that personally I prefer it to the old one. Looks simple and less childish if you understand what I mean. But that's not to say that other colours wouldn't look better, I reckon it would be nice to keep the blue.

I like the fixed width. But in general that could be a bit wider. So the page doesn't look that cropped. When having a widescreen it's better to look at then when the page is all the way on the left. Then you have even a bigger border on the right.:shadedshu

I am really taking a liking to the new design/layout W1zzard. Nice job! I had one question though. Would it be possible to have the Latest Reviews box, at the top of the front page, auto-scroll through the reviews when you hover over the previous/next arrows? Either that or maybe it can jump a couple places as opposed to one per click. Also, on the Date Bar for News, the previous day button is still showing next day.

the current width is maximized on 1024x768. i dont think we're ready for 1280x1024 yet

The news layer gets pushed to the bottom of the right hand panel for me. It looks like IE6 does when one tries to use position:fixed :/

But I'm really liking the lack of images. The structure, design and layout of websites should not use images.

Btw have you made sure you've tested it whilst serving it as xml+xhtml? That'll help make sure you've ironed out hard-to-spot bugs ;)

Are you sure you need some of those images ... like empty.gif? Surely you can work around those with CSS ...

Edit:
This is with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.5

Edit #2: Why don't you use percentages for layer widths? That'd be better for various resolutions

looks the same
using Opera 9.22 and IE7 @office dsl going home now and try

It looks pretty nice, but is a bit narrow on a 30" .... having it size adaptive horizontally would be nice.

I agree with nemesis. Sort out a format with adaptive size. I have 3200x1200 and the narrowness looks lame.

1./ Too many colors: Orange + Green + 2 blues + grey

2./ Giant extra long cigarette looks silly for your date bar

3./ Go simple with your logo, by all means, but use a more interesting font.

4./ Actually the logo is too busy. 3 "starts" in tech power up, 2 colors, 2 caps, and the blue dots. Horrible. Check www.deloitte.com for truely simple.

5./ I generally find the new design a change, but not better. It's too boxy. Everything in a box. All forced, sharp corners, and high contrast changes of color. Look at http://civichonda.ru/5d/ to see only 2 colors at a time.

I like the overall look, haven't had much time to really explore it, but it's good for me.
