READ BEFORE POSTING!! The Rules of this Forum

Got some bits and bobs I want to be shift. Is this heatwave thing still needed? I've never heard of it tbh.

Heatware is free to sign up and yes, it's required.

Yes its Needed for the reason explained in the Rules

Please remember to insert a link to your heatware if you are selling an item. This is also to validate you are a valid seller. If you don't have a heatware, please read all about how to get one below. This is required! WTB threads do not require heatware!

Ha, just realised it was heatware. Was dreaming of summer maybe. I'll look into it now.

Cheers peeps. Signed up and will dismantle the HTPC I built earlier this year and never used tomorrow when I'm not so full of brown ale and vodka!!!

Aye I noticed it was old but still a sticky. Hence the checking of the posting policy :).

Is it possible for me to ask for advice for a selling price of a motherboard and cpu on here.

Yes as long as your not selling it without following the guidelines, so ask for advice on what price you should be looking for and payments, delivery etc though no asking for PM's if anyone is possibly interested or linking to ebay items, your own site advertising etc though reading the guidelines if your unsure will give you a clearer picture than me :)

Thanks as i have no idea what price to sell my items for and there is no one better than you guys to help me. as I was going to upgrade a motherboard but I see the CPU I have init won't work with the new motherboard I want.

So do I have to take pictures first with my name and all that or can I name the the items. Sorry don't want to step on anyone's toes

There is a set of rules stickied in the BST section. That answers any questions you may have.

Ebay and Craigslist will give you a rough idea what people expect to get ( sometimes with unreal expectations as in they overprice expecting to be knocked down :))
from that you can get a rough value of your items

On ebay I just check the "sold" box to see what people actually paid for an item. The asking price is often ridiculously high. People do that in hopes of running across a sucker that doesn't know any better.

Whats the guideline for posting currency exchange theead? Or it isn't allowed?

Pretty sure that falls into the area covered by selling items that physically exist. My advice would be to use one of the many existing routes of selling coin.

Thanks, was just confused as there is no mention of any currency exchange related terms in guidelines.

My first sell, at least I tried. Tried to read & understand all the rules of 1st post. Created heatwave account, added TPU to my profile. Asked to be advised if something is wrong.
Years ago I tried to post a sell here and it was deleted, I didn't have heatwave then. What's wrong this time, dear admins? Should I individualize each item? I am lost.

Did you have a scrap of paper with TPU username and current date for each item?

It is plainly easy to see, and is touched on in the post above. No images embedded in the thread, which also has to have your user name in said images. It also plainly states any thread that does not comply with said guidelines will be deleted. Which is what happened.

Bullet point #14 of the OP for this thread.

I was about to upload the images... right after posting. A bit sadistic to just delete. Maybe you are all fed up, but the difference between requierement and recommendation in post 1 is not superclear. My fault, dont know. Ok, will try again anytime. I'm sure that after some practice this is cake. :-P

Just take your time. You can do everything including uploading images into your posting before you ever hit the post button. :)

When I see a line such as this "I will add pictures if requiered. " taken from your FS thread, it shows no intent to conform nor intent to upload them "right after" posting. It seems more like you read the rule, ignored it, and are calling me sadistic to somehow right your wrong you admit to. It is all there, you just have to read.

I wasn't going to defend myself from that Peet, because "Excusatio non petita, accusatio manifesta", I don't want make a point in a mudpool, silently or verbally. My reading comprehension just fails a lot, I look but do not see all (check my Core P5 review remarks ); I'm having bad days and I really didn't do what I did to circumdrive norms.

Question on rules: If I have a non-tech related item that I want to trade for tech related items (and am therefore more likely to find an audience who has what I want here, than elsewhere) Am I allowed to post that item for trade, with an explanation of the tech related item(s) that I wish to receive?

Please shoot me a PM so we can discuss this.
