Hey Guys, need some help. I have spent the last few days reading every post and watching every video I can. I bumped into threads from Eidairaman1 and Cdawall and I am hoping you can help.
I have been reading this forum and site for years and this is my first post.
I am not the typical tech user. I have access to a lot of junk and volunteer at the school leading computer hardware classes in the STEM program. Science Tech, Engineering and Math. "I have the kids take a desktop apart. We talk about the parts and then see if they can get back together and booting."

That is what got me into this mess.
One of the kid brought me 4 MSI RX570 gamer X 4G. He said the fans were burnt out and they did not install drivers and asked me to help. I know from reading the RX570 were great miners, and I know the custom bios leads to driver detection failure in win 10. I have been trying to flash what I think is the original bios, that I got from the BIOS database here onto the cards. I have 2 test benches up and running and no luck with either.
PS I have flashed GPUS over the years, so I have a base understanding.

Here is what I have done. Start with 1
  1. Looked at the card to identify the make and model. MSI RX570 Gaming x4gb.
  2. SN 1:602-V341-134SB1703000522 CHK:2CF
  3. This one has Hynix Ram
  4. I downloaded AMDvbflash.
  5. PN 113-F4
  6. Bios 113MSITV341MH.531 before flash. After flash it says 113MSITV341MH.533
  7. GPUZ ID 100267DF - 1462 3416
  8. Bios 015.050.002.001.000000
  9. Also GPUz Sensor screen is all wacked out. Like 0.0 clock and power draw of 8709807.9 watts.
  10. Downloaded what I thought was the right rom. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/191324/msi-rx570-4096-170319
  11. Used amdvbflash -f -p 0 "file name.rom". from an elevated command prompt.
  12. It seems to flash no errors and everything looks good.
  13. Upon reboot GPUz is still reporting Nonsense senor data and the same bios.
  14. amdvbflash reports a newer BIOS but the card still gets code43.
  15. This is on 2 different win 10 installs.. Both are older Core2 motherboards
  16. I tried 2 or 3 times each.
Any advice about what I did wrong? Is there another ATIflash command I need to do to correct the Device ID or the Part number?

Pull the gpu heatsink and get a picture of all ram chips surrounding gpu die and a close up of 1 of the ram chips information please (white letters).

Get a picture of white stickers from card back, also was the card working without code 43 before the flash?

I would download the latest motherboard chipset driver, disconnect ethernet cord or disable wifi temporarily then remove all AMD GPU drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller using the switch brand method. (search for it online) then also locate the driver folder (crimson/adrenalin/catalyst version number on C: drive and remove it there. If you have msi afterburner or another overclocking utility, restore it to defaults and remove it. I have a set of drivers you can install once we get the flash mess sorted out.

Hopefully that card hasn't been damaged from the mining so severely beyond a flash restoration

@BuckNutty

Thanks man. I will get photos.
I got the card last week. Its in a test bench setup with a clean install of Windows and it gave me an error 43 when Windows auto installed drivers.
I did have it working using the Atikmdag patcher and it scored normally on benchmarks. I figured since I was fixing it for a kid I should try to restore the right bios.

Pic of label on card

This is the only label I can find on the cooler, it is very faded.

Thanks again for any help.

Definitely not hynix ram. I will look

Radeon RX 570 GAMING X 4G

Chk 6AF

341 v 1.3.

I will start looking

Hahah... my bad. as I said I have 4 of these. I took 2 apart to take pics. I am sure that all the pics I gave you came from the same card. The other one behaves exactly the same way, only difference is it is Hynix ram.
Thanks again man.

Get the 1s that specify 1281/1750 only, they all support elpida(BABG) and hynix memory (verify if memory is AJR or MFR) and are verified gaming x 4G bios

Make sure to pull them apart to verify ram.

Use this tool within windows to flash

I have Easy ATi/AMD Flash Video by F7GOS in my signature.

These are unverified list, 1 file out of this list supports Samsung Memory as well but all support Elpida(BABG)/Hynix (VERIFY IF RAM IS AJR OR MFR ON CARD)

Thanks... I will start with this card I have pics of. Is there a special way to flash? Like extra commands for the device id or anything?
Open cmd as admin amdvbflash -f -p 0 MSI.RX570.4096.170319.rom

Stop using the command prompt, download the flash tool, download the bios file, open ati flash with in windows, follow the Easy ATi/AMD Flash video by F7GOS in my signature.

@BuckNutty I almost forgot, make sure the machine you install the card in has latest motherboard chipset drivers also you may want to ensure all gpu drivers are uninstalled first, to include the patcher.

Also a Alternative driver to the Adrenalin drivers which these tend to be more stable is the 1s under both Windows 10 64Bit and Windows 7 64Bit under the name of

Radeon™ Pro Software for Enterprise

Found on this page

@BuckNutty are you flashing?

First off I cant thank you enough for all your help. It seems like windows is in some way preventing the flashing process from working correctly. I followed the exact procedure you outlined, on all 4 cards.
1 of the Hynix, and one of the Elpida, seem to be working correctly. Windows amd driver installed, and then the amd adrenalin driver installed. They both ran a 3dmark 11 no issue. and GPUz is reporting normal senor data.
The second card with elpida mem is still giving me error 53. And the second one with Hynix memory seems to have messed up and now causes a windows driver loop, that only allows me to get to safe mode or recover console.(it was not handled kindly and it is possible it is broken).
It seems like all the mucking about with drivers and DDU freaked out windows. I will do a clean install of windows 10 on a fresh hard drive and continue this tomorrow.
I am super exicted as 2 of the 4 are working.

You must open the program with administrative rights. Also ms keeps on changing the way w10 handles software.

By the way W10 S mode doesn't allow you to run anything but apps from windows store...

Win 10 home and higher do

So I am completely at a loss, 2 of the cards work after flashing, 2 are still code 43 with complete nonsense sensor data. I followed the same process with all 4. I even did a clean install of win 10 on a old hard drive to see if it was a windows issue. I can see 1 of the ram chips with out taking off the cooler, this specific card has elpida babg ram.

Any other ideas?

You already tried all bios files?

If you have, the 2 cards with error 43 may need the pixel patcher or just are truly broken and need board repair at this rate.

Thats the drawback of mining, some people are poachers and dont care about the hardware.

I did not think to try other bios files... I figured if the first one in the list you provided worked on 1 card and then 2 cards it should work on all 4. I will start systematically trying them all.
Thanks.

On a side note I sort of want to try a CH341A with an adapter. I see they are only like $5 bucks and I like new tools.

Only time you need that is if the command prompt version of atiflash doesnt see the card or if atiflash says failed to overwrite or something like that.

@Sasqui knows how to use them and i believe there are videos online for that. If atiflash says flashed successfully in windows and you restart and it doesnt work, try another file, however sometimes cards are just hard broken

Working through the list of bios to find one that will work. I just accidently flashed the MSI Gamer x with an MSI armor bios, and turned it into a brick. Computer crashes on boot every time. Luckily I was able to reflash using old trusty. My PCI FX5200 using VGA.

I have a XFX R9 250X for that reason inspite my R9 290 VaporX having dual bios
