Watercooling a processor.

Hey everyone!

So as we enter the dog days of summer here in the U.S. I have found it increasingly difficult to go outside in the heat and humidity thus, creating mass boredom inside my air conditioned cave. Anyways I want to watercool my processor. I am looking for suggestions for a simple yet extremely effective setup (block, pump, radiator, resevoir, tubing, etc.) I have some ideas of what I think will work best, though heck, it's my first time watercooling, so any of you watercooling veterans, please steer me in the right direction. I'm looking for quality parts!:D
 
Buy a mini freezer and drill a hole in the door fill the inside with ice blocks so it doesn't use as much power to stay cold and then place your radiator for your system inside that freezer, seal the lines going through the door and your set.

Old thought of mine I never followed through with, would really love to see someone do it though. Just don't leave too much of it in the freezer otherwise it will cool down "too" much and let the lines gather condensation *that would be bad*.

SO, you have an unlimited budget? I mean, I could go buck wild here. lol.

That's what I have, and it keeps my 6000+ cool, while running 1.6v thru it. Great bang for the buck, and building a custom kit with a 120mm radiator wouldn't be any cheaper or more effective.

Now, if you have a higher budget, let me know, and we'll build a custom setup.

Anyway this is the kit I suggest

CPU Waterblock - Dtek Fuzion CPU block
Radiator - Thermochill PA120.2 (or even 120.3 if space permits :))
Pump - Laing DDC-Ultra 18W
Reservoir - I suggest using a Fill port, but for coolness factor a good bay reservoir will do (as in Danger Den made)
Tubing - Only the best so Tygon 1/2" tubing

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the 120Premium I listed. It has the highest bang-for-the-buck performance out of almost anything. Swiftech blocks are top notch, the pump is a laing DDC-1.

I'm also well versed in liquid cooling, I choose the h20120-prem because I couldn't build a better setup for the same price.

I should of explained, lol I need to put down the pipe, like I said things are getting boring around here at home, anyways I was asking for water cooling purchase advise somewhere in the mainstream water cooling market. I'm qualified to build my own phase change unit if I wanted to, and I don't. Call me boring but I don't like dealing with excess evaporative liquid all over my PC. I just have this Opteron that loves to run hot no matter what the speed or voltage is and I think it's thirsty, but in a non-wet kinda way!

I have a new all-copper heater core out of a Toyota, I could use that! Perhaps paired with some danger den stuff? I like the Danger Den name, it kinda reminds me of some places I visited in Amsterdam. I gave Russianboy a run for his money there! Though I have some years on him anyways.

Ya I actually thought about doing a phase change myself... But.... Too much work, too much mess...

Anyways, no I understand fully, just an idea I thought of awhile back and although a little ridiculous...

You can sub things as necessary. For instance, you can go to your local hardware or auto parts store, and buy worm drive clamps instead. You can also sub the res for a fill-port, or any design of res you choose.

Or, to save some money, use regular coolant, and use the 3/8 fittings instead, that way you don't have to buy the pump top. You could then go for this rad, instead. 1/2" isn't really beneficial in a single block loop, anyway.

Opt for the 9w model of DDC instead of the 18w...
Even the 9 watter is almost too powerful for low restirction blocks. :)

I'm a firm believer in future proofing on things like this. He can just order the nozzles with his block to help manage flow. Plus, I linked to the 3.2 model, so the likelihood of failure is much lower, besides, it's an easy problem to remedy.
 
I would buy the Swiftech H20-APEX Ultra Plus kit... comes with NB VGA and CPU cooling as well as a dual 120mm radiator... Pricey though.
