hey all, I was looking for a thread where I could get opinions on this M-2 SSD - 1TB for 94$ - from Silicon Power.

I just did my 1st build and need an SSD and a copy of Windows, then I'm done.

If anyone has used this brand/model, i'd appreciate feedback, thanks!

Yup that's a pretty good score

Appreciate the reply, thank you. :toast:
Usually I go Seagate or Western Digital, but this is my 1st M-2.
I checked prices over and over and this seemed best value but since I never used Silicon Power
I'm glad to hear good feedback from a long time member. I haven't been doing this long and there is so much
to learn with all the new technology coming out. Now I just need a copy of windows to do a clean install
and I think I have a pretty good machine now.

Will do, thank you Athlonite!

I was thinking of going with this 1 motherboard license for 43$

I have a little time before I decide....by Sunday when my SSD arrives ;)
Try checking the news posts here from time to time, Windows OS licences are often advertised.

OP, check my posts.

For $33 + Free Shipping the WDC SN 730 is a steal. I use this for OS and all productivity software. I use the KW960, referred in my second post, in my server to run some VMs.

SN 730 is WDC Black 750 in disguise.

If you have a previous license for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 you can just use the key for that

Thank you, appreciate your advice. I only have the one i'm on now. I'm doing an initial clean install. I intend to
install as normal and then buy a key to activate. I still have time to find an optimal situation as my SSD
is still on the truck awaiting delivery today. I don't really need to activate it immediately, but i'd like to get it at least up and running.

Thank you, suraswami. I like WD as well. I was thinking of doing just that, but I wound up with this 1 TB for a decent deal.
Now I'm going to wait awhile with any more M-2 since they're usage will clog up my SATA usage. I have a few large HDD. I cannot wait until the SSD capacity goes up and the price goes down. Enjoy the labor day weekend to the both of you. :toast:

it arrived and I'm certainly not impressed with the packaging.
I'm pretty paranoid about buying expensive things so I opened it on vide0o
The circle sticker seal was up as if the heat unstuck it, or it wasn't pushed down to seal.
Which is funny, because I pushed it down, then had to cut it open. It was stickier than flypaper.
No manual or insert of any kind. I just hope it works. I'll be installing the drive today, wish me luck!

Incase you guys peek back in here, I just finished Windows install.
My 1st build is complete!!!
Thank you to every person that helped me, and I asked a lot of help!
