They finally acknowledged it. I suppose this should explain it:

Displayport-to-HDMI 2.1 protocol converter clock limited to 600MHz pixel clock [3202060]

In other words, you have one of these fancy adapters, you are locked down to HDMI 2.0 rates. 4K@120Hz with HDR becomes impossible, the best you can do is 4K@60Hz.

I'd expect this kinda crap from AMD's GPU drivers but Not Nvidia, it's why I've stuck with nvidia, including the 30 series.

But it happens in specific shadowlands places or something like that? I haven't experienced that.
