Yes, I saw that. Just wondering where he got the idea blaming a certain company in such a situation. MSRP means nothing since last year. The other keyword is "lately," so I'm expecting it has something to do with recent hardware launch, in this case Rocket Lake.

Maybe lately is not the right word.. current situation means epidemic + mining fever, i understand there is shortages, but that is not time when the price increase started, but with RDNA1, there were none of those 2 issues.

Given the way Apple has treated their customer base for the last 25 years, it is hard to believe this company is still in business.

Nobody drops support for existing hardware the way Apple does.

Nobody spends a decade and a half delivering under-powered hardware the is not upgrade-able the way Apple does.

Nobody redesigns software with disregard to current user workflow the way Apple does.

Maybe this new Chia craze will take some of the heat off the GPU market-albeit at the cost of SSD supply-and may
further help us currently well shafted gamers get hold of some of that juicy, tasty hardware that for most
of us is little more than dreamware.

The only good news is that the CPU side seems to have finally started to clear up with both
Intel and AMD parts now widely available with-in particular AMD-supply and pricing reaching
some level of normality.
FYI the 5900X is finally <>£520 and in stock, while the 5800/5600 have been pretty well available for several months.

I have no faith in both Amd and Nvidia about their gpu statements concerning manufacturing and availability. Probably once again, we will see a pr announcement concerning retailers how to sell GPU's...

Currently the largest impediment for AMD is Apple still sucking up a large portion of 7nm.

Why do people think that Apple is larger a customer for TSMC than AMD?
AMD orders CPU chips, gargantuan GPU chips, insane number of console APUs.

While Apple only orders overpriced overhyped junk, part of which isn't even 7nm (M1 is 5nm).

AMD has found itself in big trouble when it comes to supply of the silicon, compared to the demand that exists for these new GPUs. We have discussed that many times in the past and saw that it represents a problem spanning everyone involved in getting the silicon chips to the hands of consumers.

Not this bovine feces again, same rumors had "AMD only to ship a couple of thousands of 6700XT to EU", several weeks later, Mindfactory alone sells more than that in a single week (a single German retailer.

Currently fueled by more and more users onboarding the doomed train.

There is no fix to planetary level silliness, that GPU manufacturers could be asked to provide.

Dunno, I certainly don't enjoy Radeon software and they're lacking in terms of the features compared to nvidia. I'd jump off 6800xt and would've sttled even for 3070 if I could catch one for normal price in a heartbeat.

I got both - 3070's and a 6800xt. I also have a 3080 headed my way.

I will say this - the 3070's are a solid performer and if you were able to get them at MSRP here in Canada (like I said), they were the better deal over AMD cards. Here, 3070's were average about $800 after taxes in MSRP and the 6800xt's are about $1300 after taxes.

But, that said, the 6800xt's are a beast. Their performance is amazing and I can actually play games at 4K. The 3070's can as well but mostly require DLSS to make them playable.

Just wait for Fidelity FX super resolution to see how well it works out which can really help further.

Yep, as the saying goes: You can't fix stupid.
Still, it'll be nice to retire my venerable GTX1080Ti at some point.
I'm just not holding my breath.
That said, I'm really trying NOT to swap out my 3900X for a 5900X-Yes, I know it's expensive but I do a fair amount of hobby rendering and the prospect of taking <>25% off the render times is making my debit card nervous.
Very, very nervous.

Well, my 6800XT midnight black cost me only the official msrp, which was 670 EUR at the time. If 3070 or 3080 was available at advertised 519 and 719 EUR msrp - then I’d go nvidia for sure, but that’s the problem - you can’t get them (almost) for these.
