I have noticed in various forum discussions that there are many who are not yet as open-minded about windows 11 as some others are.
Many reasons were given, for example that it is simply undeveloped...

Microsoft has a way in Group Policy since Windows 10 1803 to prevent a feature update to a new version. As long as this version officially receives updates. This can also be set for Windows 11.

It's still a while away and Windows 11 won't be available as a "forced update" (if only because of the hardware requirements). But if you still want to use Windows 10 21H1, you can set it like this. With the upcoming Windows 10 21H2 (19044), the setting will probably be changed somewhat. More about this below.

Keep Windows 10 21H1 for now

If you are running Windows 10 21H1 and don't want an update to Windows 10 21H2 and therefore don't want Windows 11, you can proceed like this.

Windows 10 Pro and higher:

Windows key + R __gpedit.msc__

Local Computer Policies -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Windows Update for Business
Double click on the target version of the feature update

Set to Enabled and enter the 21H1.

With Apply and OK, such a function update will not take place until 21.12.2022. Only after that, if no updates are provided by Microsoft, the Windows 10 21H2 or already higher will then be offered.

in the registry it must look like this:

Windows Registry Editor version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"TargetReleaseVersion"=dword:00000001

"TargetReleaseVersionInfo"="21H1"

For the Windows 10 21H2 (19044)

Since there will be two versions of the 21H2, Windows 10 and Windows 11, a change has been made in Windows 11 and presumably later also in Windows 10 21H2.

In the group policies

Policies for Local Computer -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update -> Manage updates offered from Windows Update
Here then select target version of the function update double click on it

Here you have to enter either Windows 10 or Windows 11 and then 21H2.

In the registry it looks like this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"TargetReleaseVersion"=dword:00000001
"ProductVersion"="Windows 10"
"TargetReleaseVersionInfo"="21H2"

So the possibility to continue using Windows 10 is given. Only if you make these settings, do not forget it. Otherwise, you will not be offered a function update.

windows 11 is years from RTM
all this will do is block you from getting windows 10 updates

if you didnt opt from insider program it will not update your windows. Why change something inside registry if it will mess up you current windows and possibly messing up windows update?

If you opt for insider program and you dont want windows 11, you can just opt out of insider program. Whats the big deal there?

we are just in the summer release phase. the RTM u mean is the one which comes in fall.

just look to the release numbers which ware present (actually 21H1/19043)

this is just an option to block the update that comes with functional update (not cumulative).

just have a look in the group policies, whats written there. if u do not wish any of those blocks. just do not execute the written above. it is just an offer for those who do not wish functional updates connection with win11.
again: cumulative and automatic, as manual updates are not affected in any way

I am more than willing to go into my sources again!
we live in countries, regions and continents with different legal systems.

I have a website as a source that gives an imprint:

whoever publishes things illegally in our country stands with one leg in prison, if it should not have hand and foot.

Hi,
ATM the new security additions are blocking win-11 for many plus the obnoxious processor list lol
So MS pretty much blocked many from getting win-11

I think I'll wait a few years after win 11 is released to upgrade. Any time new windows is released it full of issues.

I simply did not realize that there are such unequal sides, let's call it. I apologize in advance then.
i see.
i am far away from confusing ppl intentionally with knowledge they cant retrieve.
I will include it in my upcoming posts and refer exclusively to windows 10. until microsoft has also given you all the go-ahead. possibly then in the fall.
:respect:

post scriptum: a developer version is always marked as such in an inscription in letters in the lower right corner above the time. developer versions have a maximum shelf life and expire.
