Mouse clicks registering as double cliks in windows 10

I'm trying to figure out is this some windows 10 thing in general, or something wrong just on my side. But very often when i click around on programs, links, youtube videos atc, buttons will register double click. Right, left mouse button, side mouse button. Doesn't matter. I use Roccat kone Aimo, but also tried with corsair dominator and same thing. Any ideas?

Doubleclicks is a reliable sign that the switch is faulty. If this happens across all buttons and mice, I think it may be some software setting.

have you tried uninstall the driver then test it back, or using the mouse from the other pc?

I recently bought a Rival 3 wireless because my G305 kept double clicking things. I tried several fixes like removing the battery and click buttons for 30 seconds to drain the charge, one I posted here was if you uninstall the usb receiver and just unplug and re-plug it in afterward it fixed the issue completely for a while but the issue came back. This happens even with new mice and isn't a faulty switch since uninstalling the receiver completely fixes the issue temporarily.

I thought it might be because of a noisy environment, I have a wireless keyboard as well as my internet was on 2.4ghz so I thought maybe that was part of it but even switching to a 5ghz router didn't fix it but so far the Rival 3 wireless hasn't had the issue, knock on wood.

Try going into device manager or devices and printers and uninstall your mouse.

Are you dealing with static issues where you live?

Well i didn't try uninstalling and reinstalling anything. I have this roccat app installed that you can use for adjusting RGB on it, profiles and updates to mouse firmware. Win 10 instalation is "old" and at the point where you just say "no point in cleaning so much accumulated junk" and just do a clean install. I have 4G router next to my PC that i use for internet. But mouses aren't wireless so idk about interference. Will try uninstalling mouse in device manager.

So i tried this site to be 100% sure. and yes. Like 50% of the time it will register double click. Reinstalling driver did nothing

EDIT:

Fixed by following this video. No double clicks registering any more on my Kone Aimo. It was an easy to fix mechanical issue. The other mouse probably same issue, but it's just an old backup mouse i keep around.

I'm curious as why you would think it would be a Windows 10 thing? I mean for one, while the double-click is used for some functions, the vast majority of mouse-click operations require just a single click. So why would any OS (not just W10) change the default setting? It just wouldn't make sense.

For another, if it was a "Windows 10 thing in general", and because that would not be a standard function, surely 100s of millions of W10 users would be complaining big time. And for sure, since W10 has been out for years now, it would be widely known.

^^^THIS^^^

It typically suggests the return spring is weak and failing to move the contacts apart quickly enough or far enough, so contact is made twice.

If this was a software setting that somehow was changed, the double-click issue would be way more consistent than just 50% of the time.

I would try a different mouse and/or try that mouse on a different computer.

Also, the first thing recommended to do, is to clean the mouse buttons. (the underside of the mouse buttons)

This video doesn't include disassembly which is a pain and requires replacing the feet (skates) with new ones. Too much of a fuss.

Better to just buy a new one with a newer and more advanced sensor. Not expensive at all. Just 50 bucks.

If i had money to throw around, which i don't and don't like to do. Took me like 20 minutes for disassembly, fix and putting it back together. And mouse feet are back in place.

:( Ummm, a little gratitude goes a long way. I am glad you got your problem sorted, but you know, everyone here are volunteers, donating our spare time to help others, like you. Sorry if you don't appreciate that help.

While it certainly does happen, never assume responders only read the first post before replying. If your accusations and assumptions were true, neither me or RJARRRPCGP would have quoted from later posts!

Do note that you are partially responsible for this issue!

There was only 12 minutes between your "edit" and my post. Three significant points factor in here. (1) Odds are, I was typing my reply while you were entering your edit so I could have easily missed it. (2) Receipt of email notifications are not immediate. Even if the site sends out a notification immediately, it can take many minutes (or much longer) for thread followers to get it in their inboxes.

But most importantly (3) you need to understand that email notifications are not sent out when posters edit their posts. Not sure popup notifications are either. So I never received any notification that you even made an edit. This is why you should have simply entered a new reply. That would have triggered an email notification that maybe (again only 12 minutes passed) I might have seen. This site software would have automatically merged the posts, if appropriate.
