I7 11700kf + Be quiet dark rock pro 4

I had the other day netflix open,twitch and played candy crush soda saga in chrome, my cpu was peak above 90%, no excatly 100% smooth

Turned off what was cousing the high cpu usage in chrome was candy crush soda saga

If that could happen i might look at a new cpu, to keep it simple an i7 11700k, no need to change mb or ram

Now to my questions

Can a Be quiet dark rock pro 4 handle an oced i7 11700kf ? Once had a 10700kf that used less vcore than a 10600kf but do to more cores,threads (no surprice there) got hot

I need pci e 4 since i have a rx 6600 xt pci e x8 card

What oc on all core are recommend to keep it at around 80 c in normal benchmarks like occt

Can i run it at 4.8ghz on all cores as i do now, without the cpu getting to hot ? 4.8ghz is okay and ville give me more power for multitasking and for things that run in the background when playing, could be netflix,tidal or youtube on my second monitor when playing

I dont see why not. DRP4 can supposedly handle a TDP load of 250w.

make sure you got enough airflow in your case. Chrome on the other hand is known to eat a lot of resources in general because of hardware acceleration and especially so if youre playing what i think i a flash based game in a browser.


Every once in a while Chrome will run a diagnostic on itself which just collects data for google. This will peg your CPU between 80-90% for a while but once the diag is done everything will return to normal.

There is a way to disable the diagnostic behavior but im going to have to google it as i have totally forgotten how to do it or what the diagnostic process was called but there was definitely a name for it.

My cpu did reach above 200 watt when i had it at 4.9ghz

If your using the original fans with that HS, it may struggle a bit with keeping RL within acceptable thermal limits. According to the manufacturer's specs, it only has 1x120mm+1x135mm fans & they emphasize how quiet they run. I'm no expert on this particular HS but if you could upgrade the fans to something like 2x140mm with design emphasis on high performance, then I think cooling a RL chip will be more accomplishable. Up to you though, how much fan noise your willing to tolerate when it's pushed hard.
My Cryorig R1 Ultimate is very similar to your Bequiet HS but I upgraded the factory fans to high performance 140mm fans to aid with cooling my i7-11700k. I still haven't finished upgrading the whole system cooling though atm.

Hard to say what OC your chip can do to keep it around 80c in benchmarks, every chip is different & the thermal efficiency of the VRMs on your board will also be a contributing factor. Best to experiment & find its limits.

I don't wanna make my cpu cooler noisy, i have had a 240.280 and 360 mm aio and they are all in one or the other way noisy from the pump

I do how ever appreciate the advice since i think i will keep the cpu for gpu upgrade when the prices get a little normal, so fare i have managed to get 32 gb s skil 4000mhz cl 18 ram and a corsair rm850x psu and i need some advice for cooling,airflow,oc now that i have desided to get an i7 11700k (i always run my cpu with the same speed on all core even my current cpu runs at 4.8 and it normally boosts to 4.9 ghz on few core 4.8ghz is faster in cinebench)

Case is a Corsair 4000D airflow and i use 4 x120mm Be quiet Shadow wings

having a DRP4 myself. the stock center fan that comes with the cooler isnt your standard 25mm thick fan. its slightly thinner so there will be clearance issues depending what fan you try to squeeze in there and I really tried to find something that would fit. The only fan that would fit and spin was a Noctua NF14 redux but i wasnt able to 'secure' that fan to the cooler and it was only held in place by the pressure of the gap/slot i was squeezing it into.

Only thing you can do is change the fan that runs on the front and maybe the one on the back if you put one on. But the other problem you run into is the fan retention clips only work with the stock BQ fans and not regular fans because the design of the stock fans. Believe me, ive tried

if youre willing to try. Buy some fan clips from noctua that come with their NH-D15s and see if those clips with work for regular fans. In theory they should work.

Yes, I get your point. I had a similar challenge when putting 2 Corsair ML140s on to my HS, but I managed to use the original fan clips that Cryorig supplied but they only 'just' hold them on. One could get creative and use wire to jig something up - in the end, as long as the fans are secured to the HS, that's what matters. Those wire clip mounting points highlighted in that image look virtually the same as the Cryorig ones I have.

If there was such a thing as a silent 360 mm aio i could use one, deepcool, fractal and artic makes dirt cheap 360mm aio's for around $100 or less than 100 euros

How the heck can it be so cool, it did lower vcore with an i7 10700k compared to a i5 10600k

11700kf is as cool at 4.8ghz as my 11600kf at 4.8ghz and my 11700kf is on aut (as i remember)

Update error on virtual core at 1.265 volt in occt, stable at 1.2700 volt

There is nothing wrong with those temps for a rocket lake i7 at that clock speed. You also need to take into account ambient temps & air flow efficiency throughout the case (presuming you use one). OCCT & p95 hammer the cpu no doubt just like LinX or IBT test does (I use those 2). Do you get the same temps with HWiNFO compared to HWMonitor?
