Hi i have a AMD RX580 8gb sapphire nitro+ special edition sometimes i get random shutdowns and want to make sure the bios(s) are correct
i believe it was a mining card at some point
with the bios switch towards the gpu power connectors i couldn't get it to load windows
but with it towards the i/o it loads and seems i have this bios on that switch https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/197182/sapphire-rx580-8192-171019-1 (backed up mine and compared and said it was a match)
is the above bios correct for that switch position?
and which bios should i try to flash on the other switch towards the gpu power connectors

thanks for any help regarding this

What power supply?

Hello.
As @eidairaman1 said , please share with us the system spec.
On the other hand i noticed that you use one of the latest AMD drivers(Radeon PRO Software for Enterprise 21.Q4)
I personally do not recommend to use for RX400 and RX500 series the latest drivers, cause AMD do not improve anything in those drivers for this old cards.
The only thing they do eventually is to correct some games errors or glitches.
So i would suggest to use on older driver using the following procedure :

I would suggest to remove old drivers ONLY by using DDU.
This is a tool exactly for that.
You will do it in safe mode with the network disconnected.
After you restart computer (w/o network) windows won't be able to install auto the drivers due to the lack of network.
Now you will be able to clean install the drivers you desire.
As i said earlier DO NOT use the latest drivers, since AMD is known for ignoring the old video cards in the latest drivers. All they improve (actually they only correct) some errors in games reported by players.
So try to use a 2019-2020 version.
I would suggest the following:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-19-9-2

or

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-2-2

After you finished reinstall drivers but before you put the network cable back on, you will block windows 10 to autoupdate.

To disable automatic updates on Windows 10 permanently, use these steps:

  1. Open Start.
  2. Search for gpedit.msc and click the top result to launch the Local Group Policy Editor.
  3. Navigate to the following path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
  4. Double-click the Configure Automatic Updates policy on the right side.

  5. Check the Disabled option to turn off automatic updates permanently on Windows 10.
  6. Click the Apply button.
  7. Click the OK button.

After you complete the steps, the system will stop downloading updates automatically.
However, the ability to check for updates manually will continue to be available on Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and clicking the Check for updates button to download the most recent patches.

Only now you can reconnect the network.

Power supply?

@eidairaman1 Corsair AX860 860 watt it tests fine had my psu tester on it
asus g15cs
intel i7-9700f
aio liquid cooler
32gb PC4-21300 DDR4

@impero i installed that driver the other day to see if it fixes it i did ddu prior so far hasn't done it
in the past it powered down and back on for having a few chrome tabs open

mainly would just like to make sure that bios is correct and get a bios re-flashed on the other switch

OK, seems to be enough power given by the PSU.
Also seems to be a reliable PSU producer.
I have a question : if you move the switch to the second position, do you still encounter that shut downs ?

If you get random shutdowns, I would suspect the gpu is overheating.
Therefore, you should reseat the cooler, apply new thermal paste, clean the fans, etc.
If the miner did not keep the thermal paste up to date then it could be dried out.
Also check that the fans (case fan, gpu fans) in your case are blowing in the same direction to assure a smooth flow of air and stay cool.

@impero the other switch needs a new bios see first post

@eidairaman1 here it is attached

@systemBuilder already did that and case fans are set correctly and new
doesn't seem to be a overheating issue when i check temps its good

And so do i, care to provide database/reviews?
What are you on about? I'm telling them that they should never say that "oh the PSU creator's good therefore the unit is good". They should evaluate the unit itself, as even top dogs like Seasonic have duds. This is in general and for future reference, not referring to the AX860 which is indeed a good unit. I'm not trying to start an argument here.

@bprsk8r4272

These bios files have been verified, not all contain Micron HFB ram

1340/2000 might be a default compute/quiet bios. The 1430/2000 is the OC bios.

1411/2000 might be what you need for 1side and 1430/2000 the other side.

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios...=&memSize=8192&did=1002-67DF-1DA2-E366&since=

Let me look at unverified files

@bprsk8r4272

These are unverifird files, it looks like 2017 is the latest for your particular card. So if you are in doubt about the bios, just stick to the verified files above, stick to late 2017 and make sure micron hfb is in details.

Not telling me anything new. And I'm not starting an argument here either. What I'm getting at with previous post is do you have pertnient data for many PSUs, aka a compilation you made, since orionpsudb.com, johnnyguru.com are both dead, realhardtechX is slow to be updated and doesnt have companies like OCZ, PC Power and Cooling on it and Johnnylucky hasnt updated his lemon list in ages.

Why does that matter? Let me break down my previous sentence for you.

"I know my power supplies" as in, I know that the AX860 is good. I'm not saying I'm a Jonny Guru level of PSU goddess. I just keep up to date with PSU news and reviews.

"Just saying" as in, I am telling the person I was replying to that they should, again, evaluate the unit itself and not assume that it's good because it's made by Corsair or some other reputable brand, because those brands make crappy units too, and this will affect their credibility when trying to help someone else. This, again, is supposed to be for future reference and not necessarily applied to the thread at hand.

Hope that settles it. Let's let this thread go back to the OP's question.

I thought you may have had more info all users could find handy.

What's funny is jon gerow works for corsair so he can't say anything negative about their cs/vs, cx/vx lines which we know are gutter trash.

Anyways back on subject

@eidairaman1 thanks i'll check it out soon and report back
waiting on a test computer to come in cause i have a issue with a different card also but i'll make new thread for it

Since the other side is dead we will need to get you a bios on that side.
