Am I safe to clean up the goop surrounding the gpu? I suppose that might be the die? The goop around the shiny silver square I mean.

This was the latest bios i could find.

Yes metal square is the gpu die, the components around the die are caps, dont knock those off. You can clean the thermal paste off, use a cotton swab around the die

updated uefi
That has Hynix AFR ram right? @Final_Fighter

GOP? I'm terrible at acronyms

Diagonally tighten them, evenly

Ok reassembly time!!

Ok reassembly done. Now to plug everything back in and hope it doesn't start smoking lol
It wont

Yep I did that, thanks. It's pretty tight but hopefully not too much. About to boot in a moment.

All seems good! It hasn't been on long, but so far it seems to run a fair bit cooler than before. Maybe unsurprising as it is 10 year old thermal paste.

Ok so wow, thank you @Final_Fighter for putting together the EFI bios. I take it I can just go ahead and flash that right away then?

Yes you can

Its in this

It says "Newer ROM version already programmed. ERROR 0FL01". Should I just be applying some kind of override? Edit: the -f flag in amdvbbios

Are you in a command prompt?

Amdvbflash -unlockrom then

Yes I'm on linux and command prompt is only option to my knowledge.

I'm not seeing an "-unlockrom" option in the help menu. I see -f for "Force flashing regardless of security checkings" and various other options like -fv "force flashing bypassing newer BIOS version check". Should I start with -fv?

Try -unlockrom first, then do -fv

Didnt know you were on linux, thought you were on Windows.

Do -fv -f

I have a windows install I can go to if necessary, but I just feel more comfortable flashing from linux.

Ok so I tried "amdvbflash -unlockrom" with no other arguments, and it says "Format: amdvbflash" and nothing else. Should I instead by passing "-unlockrom" along with the -p ...?

Im not sure of the linux commands as the guide i wrote is for windows

Ok I did -fv and now I see "SSID mismatched". Am I safe to just plow through all of these error messages?

Is there a -? Option to see all commands in linux for the tool?

Verify if the card can boot up using a monitor, put cable on the 270X after you shut down
