So according to this article, Codemasters may be abandoning, some steps have already been taken. Granted this might be rumor but knowing Codemasters history its likely still going to happen.

Codemasters died for me the second i've read that they are aquired by EA.

The last good DiRT game was DiRT Rally in 2015. The only other DiRT game that was any good was DiRT 3. 2 out of the 7 DiRT games (without Colin McRae in the title) just weren't good.

Dirt 1 wasn't bad too, but I agree on the whole.

So um
The Dirt games are turning into WRC games?
hardly see how that is a bad thing
Dirt 2.0 is brillant
so is WRC10
imagine if they combine strenghts

EA has the opposite Midas' touch, everything they touch becomes shit instead of gold.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is still good, especially with VR & steering wheel.

Codemasters has had no problems under EA YET
F1 2021 was fine
Same with Grid Legends
and by the sounds like there combing DR and WRC
which souds good to me

I mean usually.. well, I don't play driving games that much so I trust your opinion on this one.

Just like Microsoft Abandoning Motocross Madness, Monster Truck Madness.

yeah i mean
the best part of the WRC game was the content Cars and stages *And tarmac pysics*
but it lagged behind on things like graphics and overall feel
if you put those in Coddies engine Better graphics and feel i imagine it would be a great game.

I could see this being true. With a controller though, the vehicles just didn't feel good at all for me.

In a World of Sims Grid Legends feels too Arcade.

Gird was never a smimulator game
Its a grid game ofc its arcade
its a brilliant arcadey game

I know the controls are straight up Hot rod and Rally Car in one but I got hooked on Project Cars and the flexibility of Sims. Like having 29 LMP1 cars race on Road America or Imola.

Not really, those just lost popularity where as the DIRT series is still selling.

Is Codemasters still running The Realm Online? Years ago, Sierra was running it and Steve Nichols was one of the lead developers of the project. I use to play it quite a bit until most of us ended up moving to Everquest.

More like every studio they buy eventually ends up dead.

Practically yeah... sooner or later... some studios just die sooner.

I get ur point.

- "EA forces Codemasters to abandon Dirt series for a licensed game"*

There, fixed the title for you

- "EA forces Codemasters to abandon Dirt series for a licensed game"*
Or you know
Codemasters makes the logical sence to abandon a game title that is old and inconsistant
and sticks to a game series that is at least consistent

"abandons the series that made them what it is today and their fanbase in exchange for slobknocking the licensed game industry.

FTFY. The only inconsistent thing in the DiRT games is codemaster's level of effort.

Great for WRC fans, however DiRT fans lose their franchise in the process. And inevitably, as we have seen 100s of times throughout gaming's history, the result of "combining their strengths" will be a heavily compromised jack of all trades that will disappoint both fan groups and go down as the game that started the death of the studio.

"Colin McRae" is the keyword there. Both dirt 1 and 2 had his name in the title.

The point being YET. According to Google EA bought them in late 2020 with completion happening early 2021. I don't think any games in their current pipeline has been affected by EA's anti-midas touch. Though some stars align and it could take years to start rotting. Bioware and DICE definitely held out long before finally becoming shits.

Dirt is not a franchise
its just games that share the same interest point
this would be a valid point IF dirt actually meant somthing the title means nothing
Look at Dirt Showdown Vs Dirt rally they should not share a title
DiRT fans lose their franchise in the process
heavily compromised jack of all trades
kinda doesnt apply here
its not trying to combine a Flight sim with a Driving game
Its to driving games
with one being a Jack of all trades thats not really master of anyone (DR)
and one focusing only on the modern WRC cars and nailing it (WRC)
