Hi All,

I am having this weird issue going on where my monitor will flash white horizontal lines and then flicker anytime I play a game when getting off the main menu. For instance, I launch a game like Phasmophobia/MW/Battlefield where right when I get off the main menu it will start flickering and then go completely black (Sometimes I have to look around for it to start doing this) It does this with every game and it also causes the speakers on this monitor to crack and pop when it flickers. This monitor is the Samsung CF791 1440p. My setup is currently consisting of a 3080ti FE and a 12900k and it is connected VIA display port. This issue randomly started happening and only occurs when my computer seems to be underload when getting 'into' a game and moving around, not on the main menu. I also noticed that it does not happen on my 1080p monitor. However when I plug the CF791 into my 3rd display port slot on the GPU, it works completely fine. The other 2 display ports just don't like this monitor.

I usually run a 1080p monitor in my first GPU Display Port Slot and then I run this monitor in my second display port slot. Even when I am playing a game on the 1080p monitor the CF791 still flickers until I plug it into the 3rd display port slot. Also another thing I noticed is that when I decrease the resolution on the CF791 or my 1080p monitor from 1440p to 720p or 1080p to 720p, the issue goes away.

I tried to rollback drivers, reseat the GPU, take out the CMOS and put it back in, tried different display cables, disable Gsync/enable Vsync, but it only seems to fix when I plug the 1440p in the 3rd GPU slot or lower the pixel density to 720p. I made sure nothing was overheating and there seems to be no voltage spikes on both the CPU and GPU.

I have a feeling it is most likely the GPU because it totally game dependent when this occurs such as being in a game moving around and having it work when the resolution is low. But it also making me think it is the CF791 because it works completely fine on my 1080p monitor. Maybe it has to do with power consumption 1080p vs 1440p, maybe to much power to the monitor, or too much power on the GPU?

If anyone knows or has an idea why this happening, it would be a great help, thanks!

EDIT, here are my full specs:
CPU: 12900k
GPU: 3080ti FE
PSU: 850W (rmx 850x)
RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (vengeance)
1080p monitor - Alienware AW2521HF (240hz)
1440p monitor - CF791 (ultrawide 3440x1440 100hz)

But it also making me think it is the CF791 because it works completely fine on my 1080p monitor.

You have confirmed it yourself.

Try another monitor or rma gpu

google seems to say this is a common issue with this monitor
return it

Ok so I tried this monitor on my old computer using the same DP cable and it doesn't do this. It seems like it is a GPU issue.

I think I figured out that it is a GPU issue because I just plugged it into my other computer, launched a game and didn't have this issue. I am prob just gonna have to use the only DP port on my GPU that works until I RMA it. Either that or this monitor doesn't like the input with the GPU when playing a game because my 1080p one works fine.
