System Name Dell latitude E7470

I want to replace my Latitude E7470 battery with 3rd party one, but I keep reading that DELL laptops are not compatible with any kind of battery except their OEM batteries, how much truth in this claim ??

The E7470 will take any battery that is properly built. There are no digital lockouts involved. However, make sure the battery you're buying is a quality item. It's best to buy a Dell brand battery.

BTW, welcome to TPU.

The only real way is to look at feedback from other users. If the battery is getting any bad feedback look carefully at what that feedback says. If any of it states that battery doesn't last very long or lasts a fraction of what it's supposed to, pass it by and keep looking. Where you at in the world? Because if you're stateside or in the EU finding good batteries is an easier task. Amazon and Ebay can be excellent for reading feedback.
