The question to me is how many will buy an RTX 4090 and under what circumstances. Voters are anonymous.

Bought a 3080 Ti FE last December. I do not plan to upgrade for the next 2-3 years, minimum.

This poll already exists :D

Are you camping out / lining up for an RTX 4090? | TechPowerUp Forums

Not thinking about nvidia rtx 4000 nor amd 7000 cpu's

Not in a thousand years. This is shaping up to be one of the worst x90's ever, after the dual GPU GTX690.

And lower down the stack it only gets worse, go figure

How is it one of the worst x90 ever? The price is one thing (admittedly too high, but if the market accepts it then who am I to question it from a business perspective), but the hardware side seems pretty compelling?

I've voted maybe, I don't need it, but the urge might be too strong.

Since i just bought a 4K 144hz monitor, more performance than what a 3080ti puts out wouldn't hurt. But will wait for reviews to see the raw FPS difference without DLSS and stuff, then depends if it will be possible to get a good card for MSRP, so 16xx € with shipping.

In worst case there's still the 4080 16gb or AMD next month if they don't go overboard with 7900XT pricing.

No i will not reward nvidias disgusting behaviour with over 2000€.

nop.
i have AC for heating. it can also do cooling.

Its fcking massive & way too power hungry, setting the bar for the rest of the stack in the worst possible way (evident by the rain of 3 slot bricks) since, well, ever.

I loved Nvidia cards for their focus on efficiency. They had that crown until they started doing RT, and since then, we've regressed. I really call it regression. Products got worse; Turing was meh because the perf/dollar barely moved forward, Ampere was and still is the messiest Nvidia stack ever and initial product line up short on VRAM, and ADA is the current culmination of TDP figures spiralling ever further out of control.

It is as with the CPU development into much hotter and more hungry parts: YOU are left figuring out how to remove all that heat again. Its an added expense just like the additional power bill impact. One might wonder if the perf/dollar isn't actually regressing instead of being 'stable', which is already bad enough. Matter of fact, with the current prices for electrical, I reckon in many places the perf/dollar IS worse as we speak.

Buying x90 is saying 'this is fine' and asking for more of it. I'll never do that.

As for urge... you've said it. Rationale is out the window, only strong emotions can make you buy this POS, or put differently, if we're a plaything of marketing and commerce. Oh yeah, and 'creators' of course because how else could they 'work' :D

Its simple: you get what you pay for.

It's the 20 80 rule thing. that's still a lot of cards to sell. and nvidia knows this even if only 20% of the 20% actually buy it.

Not interested. Based on leaks this release looks abysmal, but still need to see what the reviews hold. Based on my GPU upgrade path, I'm guessing my 3080 will last me another 4-5 years before I look to upgrade.....if I look to upgrade. I haven't been enjoying any new games that have come out recently, I'm mostly replaying games I really like (DOS2, for example) or I'm working on games in my backlog (got lots and lots of games there).

Also, I'm not a graphicswhore and I don't need all eye candy maxed out on 4k at 60fps. So a high end card tends to serve my needs for years, like my 980Ti did. So, here's hoping my 3080 gets a good 5-6 out of it.

By the time I'm ready for a new GPU, Nvidia may be on their 70x0 series and AMD might be on their RDNA6 gen and Intel will hopefully still be in the mix with the big boys.

Compelling? Did you see the size of it & of course the max (alleged) power consumption numbers :shadedshu:

Maybe at some point or a 4070 or 4080 but it all depends on what Asus makes down the road and whether or not I can run it with my current psu. Not exactly looking forward to having to upgrade psu just for video card.

No. I bought a used 3090 in August and my next GPU would be a used 5090 when 60-series arrives.
I'd not pay more than 1000$ for any gpu.

4070 is weaker than 3080ti in raw performance, has 2gb less memory and costs 699$

My local Micro Center has some 6900XT cards priced at $630. I'd get one of those if I was in need of a new GPU right now. I know I won't be spending over a grand on a GPU, ever.

Sure why not? We all bought Fermi 400 and 500 series did we not? I still have mine.. 3 slot dinosaur that chews hella power, can run at 100c in SLi, and hurt your 850w units when paired up :D

These things are massive lol. I have a lot of empty space under my current GPU. Having a 4090 a quarter of an inch from 2x 140 iPPC doesn't seem like a bad idea

No.
This is just stupidity of brute forcing an increase in performance with an increase in power draw. It's the same with CPUs. No, thank you, I prefer efficiency.
I also seem to have outgrown playing modern games and the last one I finished, before Stray, was Cyberpunk 2077 almost two years ago. I have a 3080 and use it to play games like Fallout 2 which seems kind of silly.
My tinfoil hat whispers that nVidia purposely made the 40 series stupid and too expensive for what it is. Some will buy it because there are people who will buy anything to feel superior and show everyone they have a lot of money (hey there, Apple fanboys) so there is profit to be made there, but they seem to be sitting on a stockpile of 30x0 GPUs which, by comparison, seem to be a very good buy now.

made it so you buy 30-series.

for example a guy who's waiting for 4070, should really know that another guy is willing to sell his 3080ti to get a 4080-16....
getting unboxed xx60 xx70 is totally wrong imo

If you change your mind about whether or not to buy a 4090 after W1zzard's review is posted I set the poll so you can change your vote if you want too.

Funny thing about guys who were saying 2 months ago: don't buy GPU now, next gen is coming....

with the prices of 40-series now known, who would sell his 30-series? Now the only options in used market are mining cards.
would be lucky to get a used non-mining card before Jensen brings up these crazy prices.

I get it, you think with your wallet. But anyone calling someone a fanboy is a fanboy themself. Try to leave the emotion out of it, some people can spend the money and some cant, it is the same with every hobby.
